Okay I just got a new Inspiron 6400 a couple weeks ago. THE only MOD I wanted to add to it where I live on campus is a 5.1 speaker system for music, and 1 game that I play on it(Dawn of War). However, the sound card does not fit in where I am suppose to put the card. I guess all the new inispiron lines use an "express card" so it is shaped different than the PCMCIA cards. Is there anything out there I can get to be able to still use my sound card I just baught and my speakers??? I've looked at some usb solutions but they do not seem to support my 24 bit sound blaster card. And it is making me sad. LOL. I've looked everywhere and so I signed up here on this site to hopyfully get some help from you wonderful people. This is my last chance to really find out what I can do about this problem or else I got to take it back to the store with the nice speakers to get my money back
Any suggustions??

You can buy a USB external sound card from Creative, or buy turtlebeach sound adapter. Turtlebeach is cheaper and would allow you to stay portable, but you'll probably get better sound quality with the USB card.

Sweet I will try exchanging it to get a USB sound card. That might be hard to come across were I live in a small town. Thanks for the feedback. I really appriciate it.

LOL, I know your pain. I live in a small town too. I don't even have a computer store. I would try Newegg.com or Amazon if you have a credit card. Generally you'll find it for a good price online versus Wal-Mart or somewhere else.

Yeah I live in a small town. But the city is not far. About 20 min on the highway. It sucks because this express card slot I have is killing me right now. If I would have known that i would have spent a bit of extra money on an XPS or something that way I could upgrade it a bit easier. This inspiron 6400 has nothing out for it that I have found. Not even a 128meg vid card. I got **** on when I baught this.
Not to mention the computer stores around my area or city have very little to offer for those with notebooks. I mainly got mine for school. -
TurtleBeach is a nice little adapter, but it clicks when you select the source of music (I play XM radio, so it happens when I change the stations). If you can live with it, it will do more than ok for music. There is not much of a difference if your ears are not filtering every frequency out there between those few laptop adapters in existence. I like the bass that it gives out with equalization, it is smaller than anything out there, it is cheaper (around 20+ bux) and is a good step up from any integrated "solution" in any laptop there is.

why is dell giving audigy 2 zs as an option on the E1505 webpage, if it isnt compatible.

Dell does the same with the XPS and did the same with the 9300 and though it fits both, they sometimes put the Ricoh controller for the PCMCIA and that controller does not work with this card. It's mind boggling, but they don't think ahead when offering things.
Audigy 2 ZS (notebook)
