Hello; as this is my inaugural post on this board, I thought I'd mention how impressed--and at times, overwhelmed (in a good way)-- I am with all the information/knowledge dispensed here; I'm quite grateful for having discovered this site & forum.

Now onto my question: I recently purchased a Latitude D820, pretty much completely 'spec'd out' so to speak, and I found myself extremely dissatisfied with the display (WSXGA+). This disappointment is due not to the brightness or color, but rather the sort of "pixel texture" I've noticed across the whole LCD. Among other things, I was to use this machine for design work--graphic and web--and consequently, I probably spend more time with my nose pressed against the screen than most users, positioning graphic elements, noting precise pixel attributes, colors, etc. I found the screen to have an almost "canvas-like" texture, with horizontal lines visible in the display of graphics-- if I look REALLY close, I can make out white-ish divisions between the rows of pixels, which I began to focus on, and ultimately found unbearable.

From information I've gathered on this board, I've discovered that my LCD is produced by Samsung, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. Moreover, I'm not even sure if there's technically/physically something wrong with this display and if I should just order a replacement-- or if this is just how the display appears.

I have looked at many, many other high resolution laptop displays (VERRRY closely), and I have never observed this quality before.

I'm thinking about getting a 17" Inspiron instead (as I am a bit partial to Dell), however, I'm not very attracted to the glossy finish, I'd rather stick with matte. And even if I did purchase an Inspiron (without TrueLife, if possible) would it likely be constructed with the same LCD type as the Latitude?

Whatever the case, I've already boxed up the Latitude to be returned to Dell. At this point, I'm just gathering information/opinions in deciding where to turn next.

Thus, any and all opinions on this matter and/or recommendations are GREATLY appreciated; thanks much.
