    Hey all..
I'm gettin a Dell Inspiron E1705 and before I order it, I was wondering, if it's possible to get a radeon x1400 at first and then maybe later exchange that radeon with the nvidia geforce 7900gs.. and if that's doable/possible at all or can't be done, for whatever reason!?
And if it's possible, what would be a good place to order the geforce 7900gs? I looked on newegg.com but they don't seem to have it (only the desktop versions, which could already answer my question^^)

Yes you can upgrade to that. The rules for upgrading are:
1.) must have a current dedicated card
2.) must be upgrading to a dedicated card that is offered for your laptop model.

As for getting it, check ebay or dell spare parts. I'm sure there are other places, but those are the two that come to my mind.

You won't find the card anywhere but Dell's parts store as mentioned, or eBay. It is proprietary.

It would be cheaper in the long run if you simply got the Go7900GS to begin with. If you can't afford it and the other stuff you want right now, then wait a month until you can.

Don't make compromises to appease yourself in the short term that are going to cost you in the future.

Interesting, maybe purchasing a Dell Outlet e1705 and the upgraded the GPU myself wouldn't be so bad of an idea. They have some pretty dirt cheap models on there with a x1400.

i agree with chaz. it's cheaper/easier to just get the card up front.
