    Make sure that's a MiniPCI slot. Otherwise, yes, that's the same spot.

    Why are you wanting an Atheros instead of the Intel chip?

    Just a consideration, I'll see how well the intel works at my school and stuff. I'll be taking this notebook out a lot so wireless performance is important.

    Some folks, especially those who use thinkpads have reported that the Atheros card gives a stronger signal with fewer drops, etc. It does draw a little more power than the intel card. I have zero complaints about my 3945 card, though.

    Zealot, what you need to do is get in contact with garagesale here in the forums... He has the proper atheros cards for your model. It is the AR5006EX. It is miniPCI-E and gets incredible range... They are pretty rare aftermarket too so...

    Back to my original question, the installation is on the bottom of my m1210? Like how it is shown in the dell wlan guide?

    Yes, you install the WiFi card in the slot that will be clearly labelled as "WLAN", as like this (click on the photo for a full sized version):
