Assassin's Creed for Inspiron

Does anybody know the PC requirements for Assassin's Creed? I'm considering buying it for my Inspiron 1420, but I know not the requirements. I've tried googling it, but can't find any results.

Expected release date for PC is March 2008. I don't think the 8400M will be able to play that game. Well , at least , Low resolution. So don't get too much hopes on that video card. By march , i think Geforce 8800 will be a lot cheaper ! Rumors of GF 9800? =P

I didn't buy gears of war for PC because I heard I couldn't play it on my M90 (has 2500M card which is same as 7900GTX GPU - pumps out about 9k on 3dmark05) with high settings.

I'm currently playing Assassins Creed on PS3, and it's great game. I'm not sure how XBOX version is though. I have both systems, but got the PS3 because it was getting very dusty

 

Look, if you can run Crysis, then you can run anything else at the same levels if not, higher. Because Crysis can't even run on consoles, period - no power.

So why the hell wouldn't a console ported game not work on a machine that can run something consoles aren't even powerful enough to?

Unless they plan to make the PC version revamped with more extreme graphics, although I highly doubt it..

 

well according to this youtube video, you can play Crysis on an M1330 on Low/Medium settings with the NVIDIA 169.01 BETA Drivers.

So if the 8400M GS on the M1330 can handle Crysis, then similar specs on other laptops should be able to hande Assassins Creed (will not have higher spec requirements than Crysis!).

 

I'm sure you may be able to running at low resolution, and low settings, but what would be the point of playing it without all the good eye candies?

Like I said, my M90 can play Crysis with medium/high settings at 1200x800, but I want the high/highest settings.

 

Isn't that why we build desktops? So we can run everything on high and not have to worry about proprietary outdated hardware that would require a wheelbarrow to move around in a laptop format....

 

Well my M90 was able to play most games out there at high/highest settings until Crysis came along. I like the fact that a laptop being able ot do what it does, plus, laptops are easier to sell when the time comes to switch in my experience.

 

So, according to the youtube video, I could probably run Crysis with my 8400M, and Assassin's Creed as well?

 

Yes, with the NVIDIA 169.01 BETA Drivers (thats what the guy in the youtube vid used). But only on low or medium settings!

 

Will these beta drivers already be installed on my new 1420 when I recieve it? Or do I need to manually install them from somewhere. If so, could you provide the link?

There's newer drivers out now, but the guy in that vid said he is using 169.01

He said that before installing 169.01, he was on something like 163.xx and it was running at about 5 frames per second! But as you can see in that vid, its running at about 23-24 frames per second average, and peaks at 30-31 frames per second once or twice.

 

Would these newer drivers perform better than the 169.01 driver?

 

I'm assuming so, but I havn't tested them, so cant give a definite answer! They might be a bit better, but they might also be more buggy!

 

8400m gs isnt as crap as you guys think, if you are not the type who has to have all eye candies then 8400m gs is fine. it can play most of the new releases on low settings and native res (1280x800) I run hell gate london on low-mid native at ~60fps on my slightly OCed 8400m gs. ill post more info after I finish installing assassins creed

Everyone is forgetting that Assassin's Creed is ported from consoles. As the past few years have shown us, most developers don't put in much effort to port their games to PC, requiring much more power than they should to run decently (Ubisoft is a well known offender of this kind of laziness on their recent ports). Poor porting is one of the main reasons I all but ditched computer gaming. Crysis will run on a lot of PCs because it was designed from the ground up to run on PC architecture, and unless redesigned from almost the ground up (and ditching DX10 in the process) would not run well on a console.
