    Hello,

I just received my new Dell laptop XPS 1710 and I am not happy right now as three things are mucked up with the order.

1 - No Webcam as specified.

2 - Wireless Express Card sent instead of the Integrated Verizon Wireless option

3 - Despite installing latest Cyberlink DVD Ultra software, Vista will not play Blu-Ray discs. May have received a standard DVD Drive instead as the disc just sits, spins, and refuses too read.

IF someone can check on the model number of my drive too confirm if it is indeed the right one, most appreciated. Google seaerch showed up zip. PBDS - DVD+-RW DS-8w18 The PBD part would leave me too believe it is a Pioneer Blue Drive, but that is just assumption on my part.

Also, I cannot for the life of me figure out how too get wireless setup so I can connect too my router, or the express card. the card seems too be whacky, and I cannot locat the setup for the in home wireless..

Any help is appreciated... So much for the laptop and I didn't seem too get what I ordered.

    Thanks,
    Neil V

Pretty BS if you didn't get the items (webcam, VZW Wireless card, Blu-Ray player) you paid for. Call them immediately and terrorize them with a lawsuit.

Or at least so you can send it back so you can get a replacement that is what you actually PAID FOR. this is ridiculous!

from what i understand, the Verizon thing is right, its an express card, and no, it cant get a signal from a wireless router...

as for the Blu-Ray drive, who knows... same with the webcam...

    1. There is no webcam option? Unless you mean a webcam accessory, in which case, contact Dell and tell them your ordered was not completely shipped.

    2. The Dell Wireless 5700 (Verizon) is an ExpressCard. It's not integrated. I'm not certain why you thought it was.

    3. Not certain about this.

Hmm, maybe I am confused... They offer an option of 'built in' wireless, meaning you don't need the card. Direct from the website... 'Verizon Wireless built-in cellular mobile broadband (EVDO Rev A)'....

Direct from the invoice 'Dell Wireless 5700 Mobile Broadband(CDMA EVDO)Express Card for Verizon Wireless service' Looks too me like two different things, but now I'm curious if anyone does have one that is built in and I just mis understood it.

Again, no real biggie, just want too be clear on what I ordered :).

Also, If anyone who CAN play Blu discs on their 1710 can give me the model number of their drive so I can check it with mine above, most appreciated.

    Thanks

Sigh, I just got confirmed on the Dell forums. I got sent the wrong drive on my order. On the second call, the Salesman did not seem too sure of it himself and did not really convince me 100%, but I trusted him on it since it is his job..

Does anyone know if these things are easy too switch out, and if so, will dell send me the right drive?
