Hello, well anyway I was just gonna ask everyone here who has ALREADY recieved their Inspirons, ARE you going to return it?
I was thinking of returning mine, but if enough people decide on keeping it. I might as well go with the flow.
Oh yeah, and I might be making another review for the inspiron 1520 (maybe).

my 1420 is amazing and i have zero reason to return it. so in short, no i am not returning mine.
-
-
hehe yea
-
i hate the buzzing and beeping of the audio port
i hate how bad the LCD screen is
i hate how dim the screen is even on highest setting
i hate the cheapo dvd burner
i hate the slower than advertised graphics card
meh. -
I only wish I had mine already.. Hopefully there won't be any troubles big enough to make me want to return it.
I find it kind of odd though that you are partially basing your decision on keeping/returning your laptop on the experiences of other people. If you're unsatisfied, return it. -
The moral of the story is form your own opinion. -

Mine is great, yea the screen is slightly grainy, but it isnt bad and unnoticable in games so far. The audio port may be a problem, but i haven't actually used it enough to decide, and reallistically the gpu is as good as you're gonna get. I hate that they lied, and i better get compensation, but it won't get returned. Overall I LOVE THE THING. But thats just me.

Wow, so many people totally missed inscape's joke.

So Im curious why people are thinking of returning. I mean...for the price its gunna be exceptionally fast, so is it really worth returning because of some messed up phone jack and a faulty screen? I can see an exchange, but Dell is offering too good of a deal for me to pass over. -
Inscape01, how'd you get a 7200 rpm HD option on your Vostro? I had nothing but 5400 options when I ordered.
-
That's awesome, I could use an Ipod. -
Personally, I love my 1420, I haven't encountered the problems that I have read on several threads, guess I'm one of the lucky ones, I'm on the thing 24/7 and this baby hasn't let me down yet. It's a great little notebook, glad I took the plunge and purchased it.

Mac;s ain't that great, trust me I have one it ain't nothing special, I mean i'm going back to Windows...
-
I can't really respond to the poll; I am returning mine, but I don't think it's a piece of crap. I am very sad to see the lovely green exterior, the 2MP camera, and the amazing keyboard go .
-
Stella, mind if I ask why you are returning yours? You had a great review and my impression was that you were happy with your notebook, what happend to change your mind?
-
I really do love the computer for a lot of reasons; there were just one too many issues with it. Dell offered to replace the screen which I was willing to try and I was going to overclock the video card so I could get pretty decent performance, but then I found out about the headphone jack interference (unfortunately I did not try headphones at the time of my review--it just didn't even occur to me that it might be an issue). I do think that the issues with the screen and the headphones jack will be corrected in future versions of the computer, but I don't want to hold onto it beyond my return period just in case Dell doesn't act quickly to resolve these problems. I do still feel that the 1520 is a wonderful computer and I think it will be even better after a few more production runs.
It doesn't help that I saw an Asus G1S in Best Buy and the screen was *AMAZING*, probably the most beautiful laptop screen I've ever seen. I've read that some of them also have problems with grainy screens, so I have my fingers crossed that the one I receive will be nice. -
Thanks for the response and I'm very sorry about your issues with your laptop, and I guess this being the first few batch of the new inspiron lines makes us the guinea pigs as far as testing out the build, quality, and performance of the notebooks. Hopefully they will work out the kinks down the line, when the demand has gone down a bit, and future potential customers won't have as many problems as several people on this thread. Good luck with your new purchase, heres to wishing you receive a defective free notebook that you're satisfied with.

solidsnake4119, you should keep in mind that people with problems are much more likely and motivated to vent their anger about their problems online than people who have no problems and love their computer. when people get things that work just fine most often they don't even think about writing about how great it is in forums because they expect that it'd be good so to them there is nothing out of the ordinary to say.
all i'm saying is that you'll probably get a disproportionate amount of people who vote "return" in this forum only because most people who love it wouldn't search forums for avenues to complain about it.
just my 2 cents -
I am eagerly awaiting my 1520 which I should get on July 23rd, but now you people have me worried. I hate returning things, and I am very picky about stuff that I spend a lot of money on.
-
I love my 1420 as well. A friend checked it out today and loved it, plans on ordering soon, also comment how much lighter then his older Dell laptop.

Sorry Stella.
Keep us posted on your new notebook. -
I bought it from Dell Accessories when it was $116. I also bought the RAM seperately from Dell for $78. -
Yep, it's being picked up tomorrow. Selling a 128MB video card as a 256MB just doesn't cut it in my book.
-
It is really shamful that Dell would let something like this onto the market without doing some extensive beta testing with consumers like yourself.
Thanks again and good luck with your next notebook....I guess I will have to keep working on my old T23...... -
I still think the 1520 is a great notebook. It sounds like some people are getting decent screens and headphone jacks, and I think these are just quality control issues that will get worked out as the notebooks progress in production. We did buy first generation technology, and everyone knows how that goes. The only thing that isn't changing is the graphics card, but it overclocks well and the notebook stays cool so that has its benefits. I'm upping my budget by $400 to get the G1S instead, so that's another nod to the 1520. This particular unit doesn't meet my particular needs, but I the 1520 in general is the right notebook for a lot of people.

Well now that the QVC batch of inspirons have been produced do you guys think the 1520s shipping in August will have the same defects?
Are you returning/ [thinking] of returning your Inspiron?
