Are you people serious, it's not that heavy at all. I'll tell you what, I'm going to go weigh mine right now...9 lbs even. Maybe if you have to walk around with it all day I wouldn't suggest this laptop, but if you're only moving it from place to place only a few times a day then it's not bad at all considering what it can do. Am I getting a M170? I just got it in the mail 3 days ago. The main reason I got it was because I wanted a gaming laptop with the latest technology and Dell looked like a good way to go.

Well, I have the Gen 2, but I upgraded the card, does that count?? I put a vote for the price, because while I LOVE the computer, I probably wouldn't have gotten it if it weren't for the price. Paid $1,600 origionally, $100 for the 1gb of ram, and $100 for the card. Pretty sweet system for under $2000, so I couldn't pass it up :D

Just ordered mine cost me right around $2500 including tax and freight.

    2ghz Pentium M
Windows XP Home (I will ask Dell for a copy of MCE after the system arrives)
    2gig ram
    100gig 5200 HD
    7800 GTX video
    DVD RW WiFi card etc....

Should be here within 10 days.
I wanted to replace my aging desktop with a kick-a$$ portable gaming rig and this just seemed to be the right fit.

Uhhh... nick. What’s the point in the XPS M170 then? If you don't game what good is the 7800GTX, unless you do some serious 3D work :p

The reason I think its a good notebook is it's a very nice looking powerful notebook and is the cheapest notebook your ever going to find with a 7800GTX :D

Right now for $1349, its a great budget gaming machine. But it's not really budget it has the same power as other systems that costs 2k+.
