I ordered a M1330 with the standard screen, since the LED screen is over my budget ($300 extra). Can any of you guys tell me about the quality of the standard screen ? Is it also plagued with the grainy screen issue? Any particular brand I should look for ? How are the viewing angles, colors and light leakage ?
Here is what I ordered :
Core2Duo T7250 (2.0GHz/2MB/800)
2GB RAM (2x1GB)
Standard LCD screen with 2MP camera (Black)
120GB 5400RPM HDD
nVidia 8400MGS
DVD+-RW (with DL)
Bluetooth with remote
6-cell Battery
$ 1200
+ 3 Year Complete Care ($150)
Total : $1350 (From DELL Japan)
The only regret I have on this spec is not having the T7300 processor, but I didn’t feel like paying another $150 just for 2MB of extra cache. This price is not a big deal compared to some of the special US promotions, but over here this price is quite good (especially considering how much it used to cost).

50+ views, yet no replies ... Either there are no known problems with the CCFL screen , OR everyone here has a LED screen .

I think that everyone has the LED screen

I've got the CCFL screen and have absolutely no complaints about it.

i just ordered the standard screen so we'll be in it together!

what about viewing angles? spec says +15 and -30 for vertical while +-40 horizontal. About same as what I have on the M1210 (which is not so great, especially vertical angles) -
I can be sitting next to it on the couch and still read it.....as I said, no complaints.

*ANY* laptop is generally "Difficult for two people to watch the screen at the same time if the notebook is completely on one person's lap."

I saw the LED screen at a kiosk and decided it wasn't worth it. After mine (with the CCFL screen) arrived I took it to the kiosk and compared them side by side. To me the LED screen really isn't worth the extra $291.
Thanks,

Are there any known issues with the standard M1330 screen ?
