Indeed, many hot E1705's reported because of the 7800. Weight, doubt you'd notice. Noise, fan has to run fast to cool the beast. Don't forget battery life or lack thereof. Sorry, no free lunch!!!

Heat and battery life most likely. In regards to noise, I don't think you'll notice. I don't, at least.

Even the M1710s are reported to be *very* silent, so I wouldn't worry about the noise.

The card itself does not weigh much. For the Go7900GTX (in the M1710) you'll need a bigger battery and bigger power supply, which *does* mean weight.

However, if you *do* get the bigger battery, you actually get relatively decent battery time: 2.5 hours. Even if you went with a GMA950 (integrated gfx) on an e1705, I don't think you'd get much more than 3.5 hours - the biggest drain is the screen after all.

So: the graphics card is not the only factor.... other things do *not* tend to stay constant :)

Yes, as previous people have said, its not very loud at all. The GPU fan is actually much more quiet than the CPU fan which also isnt very loud.

The E1705 will probably get the 7900 go GS this month. It uses a bit less energy and is a bit more powerful. IMO its worth it to wait.
