Yes the vostro 1500s are being phased out. Dell learned from their mistake in getting into a contract to sell this laughable model. Very bulky laptop and completely out of date chassis. Do NOT buy the 1500 model. The 1510 is so superior its not even funny.

I'd jump on a deal soon before they're all gone. Other than being slightly lighter, the 1510 by most accounts isn't built nearly as well as the 1500. The specs actually seem like a downgrade too, including the fact the 1510 currently only comes with integrated graphics or an 8400M GS.

Simply too funny. Its not about weight. Its about VOLUME. The new Vostro 1510 models are very slim and compact compared the the old 1500. Even the 8600m graphics is a weak card and all it does is waste battery life. Dell knows this and decided not to have it as an option.

You just won't give it up, will you.

OK. OK. You're right, and 10 months' worth of user and professional reviews are wrong.

    ....Enjoy your 1510.

So does anyone here know any exact dates of phaseout and grimster i plan on doing gaming, i would be sitting near a wall plug most of the time with it, i am on a really tight budget, and i think one of the reasons they are able to make the 1500s so cheap is that it is easier to install parts in the bulkier frame so i think the 1500 is the way to go for me.

edit: and oh yah do you think there will be any more deals before they are gone. THANKS

I would get it while its there. They may run out of parts such as the 8600m gt.

I agree. If you really want one, I wouldn't wait. I ordered mine. I got a fully loaded system with a Penryn and 8600M GT for under $1K.
