Hey all,
Just wondering for those that have the cpu whine, was it only apparent AFTER you had the laptop for a period of time (like 2-3weeks) or did it appear right out of the box?
For me, I only started noticing it recently (after a month)... i think its getting louder to as the days go by. Which really sucks cuz if this is what's happenign for all the computers, then ordering a replacement would be kinda pointless since it won't be apparent until i have kept it for 1 month. Anyway, just wondering... mine could be an isolated case.

May be you didn't notice it before you came to this forum? (I'm serious)

Valid point and a questioned I always wondered Achilles...How many would have never noticed the whine void reading about it first.
From what I know, the whine is either there when you get it or its not. I have never known of it getting worse and a few cases of it actually dissappearing. -

Why would the CPU whine increase?
I'm not saying it doesn't, but what would cause it to?
If it's a piezoelectric effect, described here and other places, why would that get louder over time? -
It just gets louder if you notice it, and pay more attention to it.
The first unit I got had horrible whine - was causing me a headache. -
Having lived through it, and it is piezoelectricity as described here:

I believe it doesnt get louder but gets into your system. You will hear it even when its not present. Its just that high pitch of a sound that it irritates worse and worse and worse.
Scientifically, I dont believe it does get worse but we know science has been wrong before.
Are the cpu whines only becoming apparent after 2-3 weeks of use??
