Dell gave me a 17" case free with my laptop (one of the satchel-type ones, with shoulder strap). Anyone know if these are waterproof? Weather here has been lousy lately, and I don't want to test this by seeing if the rain leaks through the case onto my laptop...

Without your laptop in it, splash a few drops of water on it and find out for yourself. If the water beads and rolls off, it's (reasonably) waterproof.......if it soaks in, it isn't.

Even better, really put it to the test and wear it in the shower tomorrow morning. :)

Thanks :) Water doesn't bead as such, but does seem to run off the case - presumably a good thing. Next, I guess, whether it stands up to the rainstorm test...

You could waste a lot of supplies and kill the environment by wrapping your computer in plastic wrap. Please don't.

I'd buy some of the kiwi camp dry stuff for tents and suede leather.
