I have a 1210 without a webcam, but my situation has recently changed (I just got into law school yesterday) and I think the cam would be a good addition. Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks all!

I think you have to replace the whole screen, and the screens with the cam seem to be of lesser quality

you could always buy an external cam, they make some small ones that could clip to the screen

I am about to purchase a 1210, why is the screen with the camera of a lesser quality?

I have a 1210 with the cam and my screen is great. :D I thought I read the review here that stated the screen design with the cam was better, maybe I was mistaken?!? By I too want to know why the specifics behind the screen with cam is bad statement. Thanx.

The original Cam screens were AUO's and now are LG's or Samsungs I believe. AUO is generally believed to be the best I think.

The AUO's in production now have a 400:1 contrast ratio, and a 25 ms response time. Doesn't sound all that great? Maybe I am off, but that's what their website says? The 12.1 to be released will have a 700:1 and a 16 ms. How can I find out if my LCD is a AUO or a LG etc?

    Thanks!

No idea. I ordered mine the first week of production and it's bright, color acurate and has good contrast, even compared to my desktop LCD. Maybe something changed? No idea, I thought in the first batch AUO was the way to go.
