I finally placed an order for the M1330 after considering both the D630 and the T61.

I chose the Intel X3100 integrated graphics option because I wanted better battery and less heat but I'd like to know if it actually makes a significant difference? For anyone with the integrated graphics, how is the heat and battery life?

I haven't seen any posts talking about that, just for the nVidia card.

If there isn't much heat/battery life difference, I might cancel it and re-order with the nVidia card. I'm mainly using it for some programming, Word and Matlab, so the integrated will be fine. But I was thinking about when I used to run LightWave (3D animation program) on my Inspiron 8200 with the Geforce4 440 and that was fun and I'm not sure if the X3100 will handle OpenGL properly.

I've got the nVidia card on mine and I think it's well worth it. I can't say that I've noticed my laptop get very hot at all, even when I'm working it hard. (My m1210 gets hotter)

I think the benefits of the nVidia card outweigh those of the x3100.

i dont do any gaming or anything graphic-intensive, so i got the x3100. the only heat on my laptop comes from where the hard drive is and where the fan is, since not a lot of air gets in there cuz i dont have the 9 cell, everywhere is plenty cool.

battery life... i know for a fact that i get on average more than 3:50 hours. never gets down to 3:30. but i havent been away from an outlet that long yet.

if you game or do some graphic stuff, get the nvidia, if not, get x3100. your choice. its about what you need. i didnt need the graphics power, so i didnt get nvidia.

It's so hard to choose. The problem with me is that I don't actually *need* the discrete graphics - I would like to have it but am afraid of battery life and heat issues. My Inspiron 8200 got pretty hot on the bottom with the discrete graphics and I didn't like that.

According to the review, the nVidia card gets about 3.5 hours battery life. So it looks like the integrated gets maybe 30 minutes more. So maybe battery isn't that big a deal. But I am concerned about the 70 degree C idle temps on the nVidia GPU.

It's too bad I can't find a real 1330 and pick it up to see how hot it gets.

Well I have a Vostro 1400. My dad has an older Inspiron 6000. That one gets warm compared to mine. Like mine is not even noticeably warm.

I'm pretty sure the Vostro would be a lot cooler than the M1330, it's a larger machine.

Does anyone know if the Inspiron 8200 can be considered "hot" compared to the 1330?
