Anyone think they will make the M1530 upgradable to 8700 in the future?

or is that too big to fit in a laptop this size? It would be cool, if they can do this :)

maybe nvidia will design a modified card to fit this size latop? :D

I'd say you are lucky to get an 8600 in such a thin frame...

Maybe there will be a 9600...in the near future, but i don't think the graphics cards on the m1530 is switchable.

I don't dell can fit a bigger card in this system. When the new 15" XPS/Inspirons come out or with a system refresh you might get a new card.

I think the next line of inspirons will have highend cards.

Besides, you will need an enitre mobo replacement as the card is integrated onto it.

Considering the Inspirons/Vostro's are to small apparently to fit 8700's in those, I doubt that thin little sexy 1530 will be able to.

Plus laptops that small have the video cards integrated right onto the motherboard..

Don't expect higher-end cards on Inspirons/Vostros. It'd simply cripple the XPS sales. Why pay the premium when you can get the same performance for $200 - $600 less.

This already happened to Dell with the e1705 when they had the option for the 7900GS. I doubt Dell will make the same mistake twice....

To be fair though, in the e1705 days the XPS variant was pretty much the same notebook as the e1705 only with more lights and a different lid. The XPS series today has a smaller, more refined body than the inspirons (which are oversized in their repective notebook classes), there are also more distinct features (touch sensor media buttons, barrel hinge, LED backlight, finger print reader...) on the XPS line now too.

Good point, the XPS has a lot more to offer then the other product lines as far as those extra sprinkles go; besides just graphics. With that taken into consideration I guess theres a good 50/50 that higher end graphics can come to other line ups.

And if you want the extreme power or the ultra tiny power form factor with the mentioned features, you pay the premium.

I guess that can give people a bit of hope.
