I'm getting my unit with the new 1680x1050 screen tomorrow, so I'll try to post a response. (i sent mine back due to a broken USB port and when I reordered I found out I had the option to get the high res screen.)

I got it last night and it is amazing. there is a huge difference in quality. although the screen might be a bit duller than the other ones, the viewing angles and real estate has increased greatly. i'm glad I got this screen. (some people might find it a bit too high, I would suggest 1440x900 for average users)

well i never had a notebook, but I've read some much about the 1280x800 screen being not that good, that I'll probably go for the 1440x900.

I got mine with a 1680x1050 last night and I love it. Tons a desktop real estate, which will be perfect for my CAD and 3d modeling work

I have an Inspiron 8500 with the 15.4" screen and 1920x1200 resolution. I ordered a 1530 with the 1680 resolution. I hope things dont look too large! I love all of the real estate I have with the 1920x1200!
