The mute touch sensitive button on mine keeps lighting up blue and mutes my sound on it's own often.. I think I could possibly fix it myself as Dell already sent me a replacement laptop which had a scratch on the screen that bugs me even more than the media button problem...

Well, it could be a software issue. Have you tried contacting dell? Did you do windows update and check for updated drivers through their great driver website? when did this problem occur?

As soon as I got it.. Maybe I should try reinstalling the drivers. Sometimes I hit num lock, prnt scrn or backspace and it triggers the MUTE.

Yes, try reinstalling a few of the drivers, checking out the BIOS for any differences, reset to defaults if you don't mind losing any changes if you made any, and after that, if there is still a problem, contact dell. Disassembling an Inspiron 1525 is quite easy. Dell notebooks are quite easy to take apart, compared to say...an Acer Aspire 3680. It will take you at least 1 hour to change the CPU.

Thank you, but as I said in my first post, I have already contacted dell and they sent me a replacement laptop which has a scratch on the monitor that bugs me more than the media buttons. I sent back the replacement laptop. I don't want to make them ship another PC. They have been great to me so far. I will try the drivers and then I might call them to see if they can send me just the part with the media buttons or just get them to help me open up mine to check the connections behind the touch buttons. Thank you for replying to my post. You're help is much appreciated. :)

My vista is fully updated, so is the optional updates... What would the media buttons driver be called? I'm not finding it on Dell's website.
