    Hi

I wonder if this is the right place to ask. Anyway, I have a Dell Latitude issued by my company. It "simulate" the system beeping (for example, when login incorrect or when you hit backspace too many time in unix command line) by making a VERY LOUD sound through the sound card. I have my headphone on at all time and those annoying sound is making me deaf. Does anyone know how to disable this stupid feature?

    thanks

In sounds in control panel you can disable any sounds you want.

    thanks
    but I have tried that

I have disabled all the system sound effects from control panel->sounds and audio devices->sounds. I set the profile to "No Sounds". I have also tried muting and it didnt work either.

The problem seems deeper than that. I am sure my laptop's sound card is trying to simulate motherboard's beeping therefore it doesnt want to be muted by windows, and that's why I tried to ask this question in laptop forum.

Check your BIOS options. There may be an option to disable PC Beep, or whatever they call it.

try device manager -> view -> show hidden devices -> non plug and play -> beep

    see if disabling that helps
