Hi I was wondering if there are people in the UK who have bought their Dell notebooks either from dell.com and posted to the UK OR delivered to US Address and then brought to the UK?

What level of warrantee do you need to buy from USA to get same level of support in the UK?.

    cheers

I can't answer your question but I would never do this because the US keyboard layout sucks when you're used to the UK one. With a desktop it doesn't matter cos you can get a new keyboard but for a laptop it'd cost much more to replace it I assume.

So, for price adjustments, always call in if you aren't using an online coupon.

If you buy a system in the US, you would then need to transfer ownership to yourself in the UK. Warranty would be standard for whatever is offered there and comparable to what you purchased in the US.

I had a look on wiki and the layout looks the same apart from a couple of symbols or am I wrong?. Dont the us use QWERTY as well? why do the YANKhave to be so different from us BRITS :)

I was looking of the dell US Outlet site for vostro 3300 and there really are some cracking deals.

would i need to be in the US to do that. I was going to buy online and ship to my cousing in CA, and then she will bring it into the UK sometime next month

No, you would just need to use the International Warranty Transfer: Dell - International Ownership Transfer Form

Keep in mind though, you would get the US AC adapter. You would then have to replace the AC end of it (from the adapter to the wall) or get the plug adapter for the UK. The AC adapter itself will work fine up to 240v 60Hz.

As far as the keyboard is concerned, it should be possible to switch them out. It is for sure possible physically. I don't remember what you have to do to switch to the UK layout though. There is a weird key combo in the BIOS that changes it if I remember correctly. Getting a Japanese one to work was not a fun task.

    I confirm Jason's post
A uni friend bought a 1330 from the states and got it down here - transferred the warranty without any issues

And my own M4400 albeit was bought second hand, the initial dell check on the service tag states it was bought in the states
