    Hi all!
So, I originally ordered my 1530 on 1/2 (through Dell Kiosk) ~ thought they had matched my EPP & gave me further discounts. Well, I cancelled on 1/4 & reordered thru EPP due to some major problems w/the Kiosk/Rep. No worries, that was then ~ ;)

I placed my order thru EPP on 1/4 and it has been in the "build stage" since. The Lojack has been in "pre-production" since 1/4, and the printer they gave me has also been in "pre-production" since 1/4. Estimated delivery 1/21 ~ They upgraded me to overnight delivery.

Tonight, I was out w/friends for dinner, and I received a call from Dell EPP Sales Support telling me that they needed to get my DPA account number, as there was a problem w/the order and they would have to redo (cancel) or in their words "refresh" the order.

The rep stated there was a problem with the "Wireless N" sku number being entered or something??? ~ and it was affecting several orders. So, essentially, they would have to start all over w/my order - today 1/11!!!!

I asked if they would please keep the same shipping date, as it wasn't my fault there was a problem w/the Wireless N sku number being entered into the system! They said they would see what they could do do expedite the order, but would keep me upgraded to next day delivery.

Tonight when I got home, I got my new order acknowledgement, and estimated delivery is now pushed out to 1/28, and 3-5 business day delivery time. I did manage to get ahold of the Rep, asked her to please see what she could do get the order back to what I had before (the same delivery date of 1/21 and next day delivery), she said she would see what she could do.

My question is ~ has anyone had anything happen like this to them w/their order? How has it been handled? Has anyone had parts of their order be in "pre-production" while other parts process? I just really really want my 1530!!! :(
    ;)

i got a call tonight from the dell rep that I went through saying the same thing. I ordered mine on 1/7 and it gave me an estimated ship: 1/22. Now I have a new order that was placed today and its giving me an estimated ship date of 1/28 as well as 3-5 day shipping. However, she did say that the laptop was not taken off of the assembly line, and it would not change the ship date at all. So this date could be just a computer generated date that is basing the ship date off of the order being placed today.

Guess im giving dell a call tomorrow and getting my shipping upgraded!

I see, did she say the words "refresh"? I think they like that word. She kept saying that to me!!! :) Definitely call and have them expedite your shipping (be sure to get a case number & have them confirm in the e-mail that they are upgrading shipping to next day air for you). That is what I did when they originally upgraded me ~ just to cover my bases, and I will have them do again. The waiting is the worst part, you know! ;)

I place my first 1530 order on 1/4, then on 1/7 I realized I could have gotten the same deal but with the EPP 12% discount in addition. First thing 1/8 I tried to get them to credit me the 12% but they said all they could do was cancel and reorder, which I think is just dumb, since their final income will be the same and if they hard already started building the machine, they would have to revert it. But, that was all they could do.

However, my order went through more quickly than I've ever had one go through and it was actually shipped today, 4 days later.

The separate pre-production parts is very common. Basically they are waiting on some part that isn't currently available. I believe they will ship whatever whole systems that are available separately, like if the printer is out of stock, they will still go ahead and ship your notebook.

bmp41083, if they are really maintaining your build process from a previous order, it would be the first time I've heard of it. Every other time I've heard of anyone changing anything about an order except shipping, they always scrap the old order and computer and start all over, and insist this is the only option.

@sonicwind~Thanks, thats what I was kind of thinking w/the pre-production situation! I know what you mean about cancelling & reordering that's what happened to me! When I cancelled on 1/4 ~ it took 5 minutes for my account to clear, and I started over w/a new order, same configuration!!!

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the ship date. Mine was supposed to ship out on the 17th and it ended up shipping out on the 5th.

My 1530 originally said it would come on or before Jan 18/08 but the est date in "my account" changed to Jan 3rd and i was extremely disappointed that it didn't come that day :p I checked back on the site and it was now scheduled for 6 days later jan 9. I shipped with purolator, but the point im trying to make here, is **** happens with shipping dells. ;)
