    Hello,

I just found out my 9300 is in the testing phase!

I now need to get a few accessories to go with it. I wanted to get a carrying case and a wireless mouse. The two items that seem to fit the bill are the Contour Pro 17" notebook carrying case, and the microsoft wireless notebook mouse.

Does anybody have these two items and if so, are they worth it???

    Thank you!

I have dells notebook case for the 9300 it is pretty good.

I think the ms notebook mouse isn't bletooth. I bought the bluetooth adapter and also have a MS bluetooth mouse. You don't need the adapter if you have the bluetooth apapter and mouse.

i have the carrying case, and I think it is really good. We have a review on it

My only complaint on it is that if you plan on carrying it with a couple of books (college books), it does get very heavy. If you are using it with folders and accessories, then you'll be fine.

Thanks for the link, southern girl! It looks like a nice case. Nope, won't be carrying books in it - just accessories like a mouse, flashcard reader, etc.

As for the mouse, I have not ordered a bluetooth with it....not even sure what bluetooth does. But i can buy a bluetooth adapter, right? The mouse I suggested is standard wireless optical via usb port. It wouldnt be a problem if I don't have bluetooth, right???

Sorry to ask all these questions..........just learning and wanting to get the best accessories for my 9300.

    Thank you.

yes that is correct. You don't have to have bluetooth for a wireless mouse. There are two types of wireless mouse...usb and bluetooth. Most bluetooth will include a bluetooth adapter, so you don't have to have a bluetooth card in your pc.

As for the bag, it will be great for you. It has a inner sleeve in it that you can take out and carry the 9300 by itself if you don't want the accessories. Its very organizable and the strap is very durable.

If you don't have Bluetooth (a kind of wireless network not compatible with g,b which is something else) I would suggest the MS mouse which holds the adapter under it. I chose to buy the Bluetooth from Dell as it puts the adapter in the computer and there is nothing to plug in or break off. It only cost me something like $30.

I have seen the MS notebook mouse used at work.

Like I said I have chosen to attempt to carry NO adapters around with me so I have switched over to Bluetooth for as many of the corded things as I can. I sync my Ipaq through this too so no cord there either. I plan to get a set of headphones also so no wires there.

I like my MS optical wireless mouse alot. I'm left handed and not many mice fit in my hand comfortably but this one does. Also, it is easy to use, just plug the usb adaptor in and you're ready to go. It's all plug and play, no need to mess with drivers. The battery, 1 AA, lasted me about 3 months before I had to replace it, which is pretty good. And when you are not using it, the usb adaptor clips under the mouse so you won't lose it. The range is about 12ft, but at that far away I could barely see my cursor anyway. It also tracks on just about any surface. The only real downfall is that it doesn't have any extra bells or whistles that some larger desktop mice have like left/right rockers or extra buttons.

I like the ms mouse too. I use the ms bluetooth mouse which is identical to the explorer mouse I just don't need any adapter. when it is around the computer it just starts working. It does eat batteries though. I use rechargable ones. I think it would kill a battery set in a month or 2.

    Thanks for the info everyone.

Now I am thinking I should have gotten bluetooth (didn't know much about it) but I guess I will have to live with a little adapter.......

I believe it pops right in under one of the doors. Look in the service manual u can download from Dell. It couldn't cost much of anything to buy the card.

Is it really 8.5" thick? Does it compress a bit if you only have like your laptop and adapter and mouse in there or only a few things like that? You know how suitcases have that "entendable" zipper part. Or does it smoosh down a bit?

That's my question. Can it be smaller than 8.5" and if so, how small?

I have the wireless notebook mouse from microsoft and it works great, NO IT IS NOT BLUE TOOTH< BLUE TOOTH SHMEWWTOOTH. It has a dongle that you plug into a USB port and VOILA, its a great mouse and about half the price of a blue tooth mouse, I get ten feet of range from my lappy with it and still on my first battery at one month. Great little mouse, I highly recommend it.
