Hey guys, quick question.. actually two...

Do you know how to disable the blue LED for the bluetooth radio by the keyboard. I disabled the device, but the only way I can get the light to go away is by turning off the entire wifi catcher. In XP Pro the bluetooth icon had an option to turn off the radio, and that got rid of the LED. Now the only thing right clicking on the icon gives that is close is the option to disable the entire device, and when I do the light stays on, even after restart... It's not a huge deal, just wondering if there was some trick?

Also how much additional battery drain do you suppose keeping the Bluetooth radio one would create?

    Thanks for any insight!

LEDs are low power consumption... I would guess it might only affect a few minutes of your battery life if you had it on for hours and hours.

Not sure how to turn the LED off though.

You can turn the Bluetooth off from your BIOS.

Yeah I know I can turn it off, I have done that by disabling the device in the device manager but the LED does not go off.

Like I said not a big deal, just wondering if anyone else had or noticed the same thing...

    Also...

The question about power consumption was if the radio and LED was on, not just the LED, sorry I wasn't very clear.

    Thanks for the help!

The power draw from a typical Bluetooth module is only a few mW/hr, so it really will only take away maybe a few minutes in 2-3 hours of usage.

I have Vista Ultimate and bluetooth. If I right click on the bluetooth icon, there is an option for me to disable bluetooth. When it is selected, the icon turns from blue to red, and the LED is off. So I don't have the problem you're experiencing. It works fine for me. BTW, I use the 32 bit vista driver downloaded from Dell's site.
