If so, which one and how does it compare to having a portable unit?
Convenient to use?
A good interface?

I've used GPS on my laptops a few times using Street Atlas and Streets & Trips as well as iGuidance. Eventually stopped once I got GPS in my phone. I like the Street Atlas interface the most, and the S&T interface the least.
Using navigation on a laptop is very cumbersome, and you pretty much need to have a copilot with you who can operate the laptop. Plus there's the risk that the laptop will go flying in a sudden braking maneuver. -
cant see using your laptop in the car as gps safe...just buy a portable one the prices are dropping and it would be far safer.

I have a bluetooth GPS receiver and it works great with the computer and with my ols PDA.
My new phone has it all built in so that is the only thing I use now.
Is it convienient? Not at all.. especially when compared to a handheld unit. -

I am sure there are other companies, too. But they seem pretty secure so the laptop won't go flying. -
I always use mapquest before embarking on any unknown trips, print it out and use that. I have GPS on my BB, but have yet to need it using the above method. GPS is overrated... just another marketing gimic. If all else fails, I just use the city/area map I have in my glovebox.
Anyone have GPS installed on their laptop?
