I got my 1520 yesterday, and I have absolutely zero headphone noise. I'm actually using headphones right now, it's great.

For the record, I paid the extra $20 for the sound card upgrade. Perhaps this has something to do with it?

Yes I have headphone jack noise, its barely noticable with my Sony heaphones, but with my new pair of Panasonic earbuds it is very noticable, I just got mine July 25, so exactly a week ago. I'm planning on complaining to Dell

Got mine 2 days ago....the headphone noise is ridiculously minimal...only there if it is 100% quiet and im listening for it.

With RMclock, it goes away though

I currently have an Acer Aspire 5720 and it's greatly similar in design layout, same OEM than the Dell Inspiron 1520 I can imagine. My computer has the same jack noise you mention, speakers gets abnormally silent and randomly "crackles" when high-pitch frequencies/notes are played. Wait, or were you referring to the hissing noises?
