I've not tried it yet with the new M1530, but on my M140 I could never get the Acronis Secure Zone partition to co-exist with Media Direct. I assume this is because setting up the Acronis Secure Zone alters the Master Boot Record and breaks Media Direct.

I don't care that much about Media Direct, but it'd be nice to save it if possible. Anyone have any success getting those two to play together?

I would recommend against the secure zone. If you hdd go bad or something similar you backups are gone. I suggest using an external.

Thanks. I get that. I do make multiple images at various points and store them on external media.

But the Secure Zone is nice in that you can get one clean image that can be restored anywhere, anytime, with no other software or media. In a hotel in Sioux Falls 500 miles from your Acronis boot CD and external backups, and nothing with you but your notebook and a power cord? Boot, F11, restore, done. It's not the only solution, but it's one really handy one to have available.
