I poked around and saw a people asking about it and one that said they ordered a screen, but never reported back.

I disassembled my 1545 when i had a 1080p screen at my disposal only to find that they used different cables?

i didnt know much about it at the time and I had a shiny new Sager 8150 to play with so I wasn't concerned about the 1545.. Sager got returned, along with a few other laptops in the past few months and I'm budget constrained to the 1545 for a while so I'm gonna spruce it up a bit.

Going to check to see if 8Gb ram works in it (running win 7 ult 64) and pop an ssd in it. making an eGPU (specs undecided atm)..

wanted to see if I had a reason to go after the 1080p screen again. Would it be supported by the iGPU? and what would I need (as far as cables/adapters) to go from the 1366x768 to a 1080p led?

The 1545 supports a 34mm ExpressCard, if you follow the DIY eGPU thread, I'm sure you'll get more responses there.

I don't think the 1545 uses anything special, maybe try the Dell Latitude E6510 LCD + LVDS cable (pretty sure 1545 doesn't use full 30 pin LVDS connector). I know of people swapping in 1600x900 screens into the 1545.

    8 GB works fine in a 1545

is there a brighter aftermarket screen option for the 1545? my stock one has gotten pretty dim. they were going to replace it when they changed out my mobo, but dell sent the repair guy the wrong screen and he told them this one looked fine so they didnt bother replacing it.

i'm game for a cheap replacement, since this laptop doesn't have to last me for at most another 6months. be it 1600x900 or 1920x1080. I've looked at couple sites, but I cant really afford to experiment at this point.

So if anyone who's done it could provide part #'s or something, that would be great

About a month ago on EBAY, I found a seller for 1545 screens and he had an excellent print out for choosing the correct screen, different type of connectors for each. My apologies as I don't remember the sellers listing or call but looking for something like that on EBAY might be productive.

So did anyone made the upgrade? I know for sure that the Intel GM45 chipset supports the 1080p resolution.
And I found a compatible 1080p resolution screen on LaptopScreen.com
Screen for Dell INSPIRON 1545. Replacement Laptop LCD Screens

I just want to know if the LVDS cable I already have is compatible with the higher resolution screen.
Anyone finished the 1080p screen swap on the 1545?
