I need a new screen for my Dell E4200 (12.1" WXGA). The LCD screen is out of warranty. I called Dell Support and they said to call Out of Warranty Support at 1-800-288-4410. Was on hold at 'Out of Warranty Support'...planning on trying again later in the week...

The Dell Part # for the E4200 (12.1" WXGA) is is NU412 (or D063C). I would prefer to get a Dell LCD. I checked http://accessories.us.dell.com and can not see Part # NU412.

Any one ever order a NU412 LCD screen (or any Dell laptop screen) from Dell Out of Warranty Support? What did it cost? Are the Dell LCD prices comparable to aftermarket? Will Dell give us any discount..or is there any way we can get Dell to give us a discount on the price? Any idea if Dell sells any refurbished NU412 LCD screens?

How would it be out of warranty? Latitudes come with a three-year warranty standard. The LCD itself isn't warranted, the whole system is.

I cracked the screen. Screen is not covered under my warranty. Laptop itself is still under warranty.

Got through to Dell Out of Warranty Support at 1-800-288-4410. They did not have part Number NU412 in stock. Price they gave me was $271...i can check back in a few weeks to see if part is in stock...

It seems that aftermarket (Dell 12.1" WXGA) screens to go for around $150-$200...

Anyone know how/if we can get Dell to give a discount on their price ?

Any one ever order a Dell 12.1" WXGA from an aftermarket vendor?
(how was the price/vendor, quality of aftermarket 12.1" WXGA LCD?)

I wouldn't bother with Dell pricing, check Ebay. There should be some that have been parted out from systems.

    Just a quick update...

Dell said they would not discount their LCD price...and that they do not sell refurbished NU412 LCD screens...I ended up getting a used E4200 LCD screen...

replaced the screen myself using the Dell E4200 Service Manual...was pretty straight forward...

There are several part numbers for the same part, especially for components that have different manufacturers (different manufacturer-made parts get different part numbers). A different part # will work fine as it's the same spec.
