I am still contemplating jumping on the $799 deal Dell has on the xps m1530, I just don't like the video card (the 8400) and it is not upgradable on this special deal.
I was wondering if aynone had done an upgrade yet on an xps?

I was thinking for $799, why not just go for it and then spend another $200 bucks and for under a grand you have a 512 mb video card (well more like $240) laptop? I am looking into doing this.
Some have said no, but I have talked with representatives at Dell and they assured me the slot was there for upgrading the video card and it would be pretty much plug and play.
So what are your thoughts on this? I really want to go for it however I am new to this whole laptop scene and especially new to upgrading laptops, so I don't know if it will work. What am I looking for in a laptop graphic card and where do I find them for sale? Or is there a certain card I should be looking for?

    Thanks for your time.

You can upgrade it. However, im sure you could talk them into upgrading it for you with that sale price. It might take some persistance, but i bet they will do it.

BTW you can not upgrade the gpu. It is directly attached to the motherboard. You can try, but I don't think the rep will do it. Most likely trying to move inventory because most who get the 1530 get the 8600GT.
