I got the black 1520 and I hate it. It's always filthy and I always have to clean it and I regret not getting a color. So Dell gave me $25 to spend on whatever, so I bought the LCD assembly for $13 shipped.

Anyone have any experience with a swap?

The LCD housing? lol I've never swapped casing's - but removing it is pathetically easy.

Once you remove the assembly from the base which is no more then 2 cables and 4 screws. All you do is remove the rubber feet on the LCD housing, take out the screws, pry the bezel off, then remove the 8 screws that holds the LCD. Then pop that out and remove the microphone/webcam card as well and you SHOULD be good to swopp away until you're hearts content.

There were two LCD related cables, with one ground. The LCD housing itself contains the WIFI antenna and there are two cables that attach to the WIFI card and about 4 others for something that are just tucked away.

There are only four screws that hold the LCD to the laptop and then a total of 6 screws that hold the bezel to the LCD. After you separate the LCD from the laptop and the bezel from the LCD, there are four screws on each side of the LCD that need to be removed and two screws to remove the webcam. I couldn't figure out the easiest way to remove the webcam from the LCD so I left it on and just removed the webcam.

Then I swapped the LCD into the new housing and reversed the order and now I'm swimmin' in Crimson Red!
