So yeah, browsing the Dell page today... came across their "Back to School" sale thats been going on with the time limit of "3 Days Only". With up to "$650 savings".

    http://www.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/bts_xpsnb_1530?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

The deal... is even worse than the previous $500 off deal they have. I customized the M1530 to my identical specs and it was over 800 bucks more 2200+.

What a great back to school deal! Well, if they wanted to remind you of the rigor and hardships that come with going back to school. School hurts, just like its cost.

Not complaining or anything, I'm just glad I got my config before the month-long period of really good deals were around. Congrats to everyone else who did so as well.

For everyone else who hasn't purchased a notebook and are hesitant on waiting or buying now... I strongly advise you wait for the new models as the difference in price won't be much at all.

Well the reason it is expensive is because it includes:

    -Vista Ultimate ($150 more)
-Verizon/Sprint Wireless Broadband card (easily $100 more)
-3 Year Warranty and Accidental (probably adds $200+)

the better configuration is a better deal and does not force you to buy Ultimate and a cellular broadband card.

Like I said in my first post, crud. Not much of a real saving. Customizing with the more expensive version of the M1530 still costs a lot more. And as the poster above mentioned, last gen processor.

You can upgrade to a 45nm chip.

There is a much better deal if your university supports it. For both M1330 and M1530 with 3 year warranty and accidental damage. Click on recommended packages, if your uni shows the link:
$1,299: T8300, 4GB, 250GB HD, LED Screen, Intel 4965 AGN, Bluetooth, 3 yr at home service + accidental damage

Pretty much nothing you may not want except for maybe the extended warranty.

Take an additional 8% off this for EPP + 4% off for Dell Financial Services with zero % APR

    Makes the deal even better.

Edit: And its customizable if you want to upgrade to a T9300 for example.

Not that I recommend DFS, but you can use it for the 4% off and then pay it off immediately.

My M1330 order cost 1227 including taxes with above configuration.

Yeah you can, but the fact is, the starting price comes with a non-45
nm chip. I remember similar pricing even after the 25% and 40% off deals were over and you started off with a 1920x200 screen and a T9500 processor.
