I have periodically asked a few questions about Bluetooth usage here and never gotten even a single reply. This makes me wonder if anyone actually uses it.

I currently use it for my mouse and to sync my Ipaq. It really works well. I am thinking of getting a headset for video conferencing.

I've been using it on my desktop pc to sync my cell phone for the past year. It's worked great. I don't know persoanlly know anyone else that uses it though.

I just got an inspiron 6000 with BT and would like to use the phone with it but the BT software on the laptop is really basic. Maybe it's just some generic software that's part of XP. I reloaded my 6000 within minutes of opening the box so I don't know if there was more robust BT software from dell on there or something :)

...I use it. Mostly between my cell phone, and my axim x50v...(check e-mail, browse the internet, etc...)

    Hence, my problem:
I am now looking for an ultraportable laptop (13.3" or smaller) with PCMCIA slot, bluetooth, and internal DVD writer. I'd like to have the ability to link my laptop to my cell if I can't get wi-fi...

So far, I've ordered (and cancelled!!)
    - a 700m (no bluetooth, audio defect known)
    - an X1 (no PCMCIA, no internal optical drive)
    - and a Vaio s460 (poor esthetics, exterior smudges terribly)

I've settled on an s470 (Silver version of the s460 with XP Pro installed), and am waiting for it to arrive. Not sure if I'll keep it though...Don't like the mouse keys, and dislike the memory stick slot. Really had my heart set on the Vaio T250--but the price--oy vey!

Anyhoo...sorry to hijack your thread. I see you have a 9300. Nice unit. Too big for my needs at this point.

    But I do use bluetooth.

    ;)

    Cheers,
    Mark

i use mine for syncing with my pda. I'm eventually getting a bluetooth mouse (if i can find a good one) and a cellphone that has bluetooth enable.

Stimpy check out the latitude the D610 or D510 if you can live with getting a 14in. Also, you might create a new thread in hardware and see if anyone can give you some good recommendations.

Does anyone know where I can order the internal bluetooth card for 9300 online with Dell? or part number. I know I can call spare part but it can be a pain dealing with them on the phone somtimes. I am getting the Microsoft bluetooth mouse and my razr should hook up to my 9300 nicely.

    Thanks in advance.

Well for what it is worth I have the MS bluetooth explorer mouse it works well. The only problem if there is one is that it goes to sleep when left alone for a little while. You have to move it and count to 10 and it is alive again. Other than that it works like a champ.

I want a headset or headphones to use with video conferencing. Anyone tried one of these. I know they work with cell phones. I tried one somene at work had but it was old and cheap and I couldn't get the two things to talk.

Works good for syncing though it is a little slow. Also alows the Ipaq to browse the web for whatever that is worth.

    hln,
I would just go with a bluetooth adapter. They have usb port ones that are small and will work with different bluetooth devices. If you are wanting the interal card, Dell's parts would probably have it, but I haven't seen it on there yet.

    JJD,
I've read some really good things about the headphones. I think there was a issue with battery life on some, and you can only go so far away from the laptop. Good question..maybe someone has some experience with bluetooth headset.

Thank you all for the info.

I will call Dell spare part and order one. Now, what did I do with that number? :)
I am sure the main switch can get me there.

I paid something like $30 for the MS mouse and it came with an adapter so I would watch what you pay. I never used the adapter though so I have no way to know how good it is.

the bandwith is much less than wifi. Personally it isn't a replacement for that just for a binch of wires which I don't have to haul around. I can sync my Ipaq anyplace I want and don't need a wire. I would like to use the messenger wireless too but I would like not to be the first one to try it.

Using USB here for phone sync and a wirless mouse from microsoft, far superior to blue tooth which is nothing more than a headache and costly.
Blue tooth should be renamed Tooth Decay

I have a Kensington Pilot Mouse. It has a good feel and it worked right off with my T42. Also has on/off switch to save the batteries which a lot bluetooth mice don't seem to have.
