Is there anybody out there who likes this monitor? Are all samsung SEC3350 monitors w/ 1680x1050 for the xps 1530 affected w/ this grainy appearance as stated in the other threads? Maybe I'm blind but my monitor doesn't seem to be grainy as stated by other threads. It's bright and clear. Gaming wise, it looks great. I tried to look for screenshots of grainy pics on google and this forum, and it's hard to tell what a grainy picture looks like. I know I'm no expert when it comes to laptops, but my wife is satisfied w/ the look. I'm satisfied. Maybe I need to go to best buy and compare which is about 1 1/2 hr away from me.

I had the SEC3550. It looked fine. It had a bit of a prismatic effect that you could only see with white / bright backgrounds. Honestly, it looked like every other LCD I have.

The way I describe the graininess is similar to complaints people had about DLP projection TVs. White isn't white, its multiple colors when put together looks like white.

But like I said, it really did look fine. Games looked awesome. I only knew about the issue because of these forums. I called Dell 2 times, got the screen approved and set directly to me. The tec installed it yesterday and it looks good. Better than the Samsung, but nothing earth shattering. My Samsung was probably one of the better ones though.

Whites now look flat and white, like they should be. Gaming isn't too much different. The image is slightly clearer. Am I glad I swapped the screen? Sure. The LG monitor they put in is better than the previous Samsung, but the previous Samsung was acceptable in my opinion.

"Whites now look flat and white, like they should be."

This to me is one of the reasons why the Samsung was unacceptable. Whites should always look flat and white and if they don't the screen is defective.

sk105, I'm glad your screen switchout went well :)

Mine looks fine. It's the 1680x1050 and the glare is minimize too compared to HP's glossies. But it isn't as bright or saturated like the HP 1280x800 resolution. The fonts are a lot smaller so I have to adjust the resolution for reading. The videos and pictures looks good too. Still trying to tweak my m1530

How in the hell was the whole process so painless for you!? Don't get me wrong, I am glad it was, but me and many other people on these forums are pulling teeth with Dell and getting no where at all. Any tips or advice?

i recieved my m1530 tuesday, called up xps tech support yesturday about my grainy screen (sec3350 here).

all i said was i noticed the screen looked weird, googled, and found these forums. atleast thats what i said, i've known about the grainyness possibility even before i placed the order.

so i told him about this forum, and he read through a few "grainy screen" threads. i didn't even ask and he set it up to have a screen sent out. i requested nothing.
