Anybody get an Inspiron 11z yet?

I ordered mine on Oct 27th. It's still showing as In Production. I got a phone status update a couple of days ago that said it was supposed to ship by Nov 5th (tomorrow). Normally when I order stuff from Dell, it shows up a lot sooner, but I guess the 11z is a hot item so it's taking longer.

I ordered mine pretty decked out... I got the dual-core Pentium CPU, 320 gig hard drive, Wireless N card, etc. I'll probably still stick a 500 gig drive in it and use the 320 as an external.

I didn't have a choice on the battery; it's coming with the big, ugly 6-cell. I'll probably snag a 3-cell on eBay, but I'm waiting until it arrives to make sure I like it first.

Has anybody else gotten one yet? I'm curious to know how they're performing.

I've just read the 2nd review of the 11z here on notebookreview and judging by their opinion of the touchpad I'd stay away. A good keyboard and touchpad are essential for mobile computing.

I have the same problem on my 1520 with the touchpad -- the cursor jumping around as you type. So I just disable it. I use a separate mouse anyway. Plus with some careful tweaking of the touchpad settings, you can minimize the problem.

I just need a small, compact laptop so I can get stuff done on the hour-long train ride that I have to do two times a day. Lugging my heavy 1520 around just isn't cutting it.

If it's THAT bad, I'll return it, but I don't think it will be.

Why not try out the Acer 1410 instead? http://www.jr.com/acer-computer/pe/ACE_AS14102285/. It has dual-core celeron (same processor as the core 2 duos but disabled features) and better design. The 6-cell battery on the 11z is ridiculous, and sticks out like a sore-thumb.
Notebookreview said they only got 4.5 hours with the 6-cell and new dual-core processor.

I don't get Dell's designs these days....they have really fallen off.

That Acer looks really nice! I wish I had known about it before, I'd probably have one by now.

I called Dell a little while ago since the Order Status page isn't updating and now they're telling me it's been pushed back a week. The last info I got, later last week, was that it was due to ship today (11/5). Hmmm.

I'll give it a little longer before I cancel. I'd like to maybe go ahead and get the 11z, then see how I like it. If I don't, I'll return it and get one of the Acers. Part of it is that I had $$ on my Dell account that I used to get the 11z. I don't think I can use it to get the Acer. ;)
