Anybody else with a backordered LED LCD?

I've been told for over a week now that my LCD (LED version) and WebCam is on backorder and that's the reason my 1530 is still in the "Build" stage. I wondered how many else this is probably effecting now...

In my case, the LED LCD, along with a couple other items, have been on backorder for 24 days and counting.

 

Geez, Dell, get it together.

This is looking rather pathetic on their part.

 

How would you go about checking if it is back ordered? Call them? I ordered my 1530 on Friday, WXGA+, so I'm guessing that is what you got as well.

 

Yep...you need to call to get specific part delays after you order. They will tell you what is currently on backorder (have to speak to a rep). I ordered on the 1st (August), and at the time, the LED LCD was a 9 day delay. That was the only thing that was delayed. I called last week and was told that the LED LCD, the base motherboard and the 6 cell battery were currently on backorder from my system. The later two were not delayed when I ordered.

Not everyone has had the same experience.

 

Yes, just call and speak to a real person. They can give you more info than the automated status system.

It's frustrating for me to order something and have it back ordered, but for you to wait 24 days, that seems unacceptable. Hopefully they'll get it right. Good luck!

 

I ordered on 8/4 and it's basically been in the Production "Build" stage since then...

Well I ordered mine on 8/23 and I was really excited for the 9/5 out for delivery date. I really hope this isn't the case because that would suck. Of course it might be reason for them to give some cash back, but still.

 

8/23-> 9/5 is fast if you didnt order anything fancy....

 

I used your deal. So it has LED and 6 cell battery, both of which I've heard can cause delays.

 

Backordered LCD is showing up at 3 days currently, while 6-cell is at 1 day. That's why the dates are coming up that way now. Mine said 9 days on the LCD originally. That's turned into 24 days (16 business), and I'm still in the build stage.

 

There was one guy on here that claimed he got his 1530 on August 20th and he said he had the LED screen and 6-cell battery and he ordered like August 8th. I ordered on the 6th and am still waiting for mine. When I called a few days ago I was told the webcam was what the delay was. It sucks in one way but I figure it just gives me a better chance of getting a revised nVidia GPU if they really did fix them or maybe the next gen XPS will come out by then and I will have the opportunity to get that if I want.

 

It is funny actually right now the website is showing a delay for the regular 1440x900 screen but no delay on the LED one.

 

yea, ordered mine w/the LED display being backordered (9 days). i called them today and they said they just got a new shipment, and that my order was expedited so that it'll get the new LED screen. my original esd is 9/8, but the lady i talked to said that ill probably recieve it by then! can't wait

 

I ordered mine on 7/25/2008 ESD of 8/25/2008 received a call yesterday it will be delayed until 9/1/2008. Called and talk to rep LED LCD is on backorder.
