dell mediadirect has stopped working properly on my vostro 1500, it will not start when in vista and when I boot directly into it it says that "Mediadirect cannot access your hard drive"
I cannot seem to solve this problem and I do not have bitlocker drive encription enabled.

    thanks for any advice,
    John

yeh it says "this system is not supposted by this reinstallation dvd. Installation will exit"

I have a vostro 1500 but was sent an inspiron 1520 disk, justed guessed that they are the same underneath.

They probably are the same underneath but they may be reading the actual system name from the disc... I think I saw on here somewhere which file to edit to change the name from "Inspiron 1520" to "Vostro 1500" or you can call dell and ask them to send you the right disc...

Maybe you can find somewhere to download it...
