I have a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop with a Celeron M 1.4 Ghz CPU and the problem is that the fan on the noteebook keeps going on and off, first there will be silence and then a quiet buzz for a couple of seconds as the fan kicks in and then back to silence and this repeats

I was wondering if there was anyways to be able to controll the fan so that it runs at a very quiet (near silence fan speed) all the time, rather than turning it off and then starting it up agian with the CPU gets too hot

must be something wrong here,.. :( ..I got a 1300 first of march and mine is as quiet as a mouse. you can't even hear the fan at all. and as cool as a cucumber 35 degrees c. i be \lieve you need to have them check it out. if the fan has ever started i can't tell by listening.

Try speedfan-see what your temps are and what speed your fans are running at and how often/long.

Don't let the machien get to hot or it will die. YOu may indeed need to speak with dell and see about a fix.

    thanks!
