I'm sure everyone is sick of the Dell screen posts, but I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a Vostro 1500 or possibly a 1400 with the standard resolution (WXGA) True life screen. I know there have been a lot of complaints on some other Dell screens, but has anyone had any issues with their Vostro or Inspiron 1520 or 1420 WXGA glossy screens? I looked at some HP's locally, and like those too, but they seem priced higher than Dell on their website for comparable configurations, particulary compared to Vostro. But they do have nice, bright glossy screens. I hope that the screen on the Dell I purchase will look just as good.

I have the WXGA TrueLife on my 1520 and I think it looks great. But then again I don't have much experience with screens; I've been using a bulky regular old desktop monitor for ages. I'm not even sure what this grainyness everyone talks about it is, but I think my screen looks great.

I didn't really know what they meant by graininess either until I saw a Compaq laptop screen the other day. It resembled the grain you might see in a very high ISO film photo or a noisy digital photo. It looked terrible - wasn't clear & sharp like the other notebook screens were.

The WXGA on my 1520 looks perfect to me. No grain that I can see. Resolution seems just right for a 15" screen as well.
Any issues with Dell's WXGA screens?
