Ok, I've just noticed this on my inspiron 1525. I use the preinstalled roxio in writing to DVDs and CDs, but one time I tried to burn using vista. I did not change from LFS to Mastered when I did this. After burning on to the DVD and closed the session I checked if it burned successfully. On Computer explorer window, it showed that I did in fact burn something to it as it shows how much space I used in it, but when opening it, there's nothing there. I'm sure it's not the disk because I used the same kind of disc using roxio and it burnt successfully. It's not the LFS because I'm trying to view it on the same machine I used for burning into it. I know it's not the hardware because I can still burn using roxio. I just want to know if there are any issues with roxio and vista or if is just a bad vista install. I've searched the internet, but can't find one with same issue as mine. I don't use the vista burning capabilities because I know it's a piece of crap. I just want to know if there are any issues so that when someday I encounter something like this I'll know why it is, on the spot. Thanks.

I can't answer directly to your question. I have experienced similar problems working with Media Player vs. Nero. Strangely, depending on what I was trying to do, one would work much better than the other, but not exclusively.
Really want to ask about your Dell...how do you like it? How is it configured? Does it run cool? Quality of build? How long have you had it? Anything else..
    Thanks

I love it. Had it for four months now. core2duo T5550 1.83 ghz, 3 gig of ram, 250 gig of harddrive, wireless G, bluetooth, 9 cell battery and the usual HDMI, firewire, 4 usb ports, et cetera. The screen is a bit wobbly. The back of the dvd drive has a bit of flex. Overall build I think is quite good. Haven't heard a squeak yet. Web cam is clear even at dark areas. Keyboard is very responsive though it feels a bit thin and weak/cheap. It runs pretty cool for normal use, but with heavy use, gets a bit warm, but tolerable. The fan runs quite often, but it doesn't really bother me at all not like the others who seems to have supersensitive ears. I think it helps with keeping the machine cool and I'd prefer that than being hot all the time. Speakers a bit weak. I have the default high definition audio. When compared to my girl's toshiba satellite, seems to be 75% of the loudness of the toshiba. The hinge spring to keep the lid close is a bit weak. When holding the notebook with the lid close vertically, it opens a bit, like a quarter of an inch. It's blazing fast with vista because of the 3 gig of ram. I had a notebook before with 1 gig of ram running in vista, which felt sluggish. The commotion design makes heads turn and the form factor is quite thin compared to other notebooks I had before. Overall, this is a very decent notebook for non gamers of course. I leave my gaming on my desktop. I'm using it really a lot, sometimes two days straight. I keep it on overnight most of the time. Never had a headache with it yet.
