Well I just re-installed a fresh copy of windows xp instead of the cp cd that came with my notebook. I know only have 29 applications running now instead of the 70 that it came with stock. Does anyone know of any good drivers or good programes to boost performance of my e1705 with the Nvidia go 7900gs. Also if anyone knows if I can get Media Direct working again without having Media XP :) I appreciate all advice. Thanks.

If you left your first partition on your HDD, then all you need to do is repair it. If you deleted all of your partitions, then you'll have format again or find some way to leave about 2000mb of unpartition space and must be after your XP and any spare partitions that you have. You'll also need to download Dell Quickset.

If you don't use MCE as your OS, then you'll need to install Dell Media Experience which is virtually the same thing as MCE - just not an operating system. You should be able to find it on one of the discs that came with the XP bundle.

I cant find dell media experience, I recieved three cds, drivers + utilities disk, XP media operating system and Word perfect. I dont think anyone should reformat with the Operating system that comes with the computer because it still has all the dell junk on it.

o_O, the xp disk that you recieve gives you a clean format. I have a whole guide developed towards it, and nobody has complained yet that they still have junk on their laptop afterwards.

MCE does have some extra software like ESPN, but that is part of MCE - it is not junkware from Dell.
