I am replacing a Inspirion 8600 and am looking for some feedback on the following config. I usually keep my laptop for at least 3 years and intend to upgrade the RAM myself. I went for the three year warranty as laptops are not as easy to fix as desktops are if components fail. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    System Config:

    Inspiron 1420 Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7500 (2.2GHz/800Mhz FSB/4MB cache)
Operating System Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition
    System Color Midnight Blue BLUWC
Memory 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
LCD Panel Glossy, high contrast, widescreen 14.1 inch display (1280x800)
    Video Card 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GS
Hard Drive 80GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM) 80GB
Integrated NIC and Modem Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem
Optical Drive CD / DVD writer (DVD+/-RW Drive) 8XDVDRW
Sound Card High Definition Audio 2.0
    Wireless Networking Cards Intel® 3945 802.11a/g Mini-card
    Camera Integrated 2.0 Megapixel Webcam
Misc Productivity Software Microsoft Works 8. DOES NOT INCLUDE MS WORD
Battery Options 85Whr Lithium Ion Battery (9 cell)
    Warranty & Service 3Yr In-Home Service, Parts + Labor, 24x7 Phone Support

I have a $500 off of $1399 coupon, so the price after tax is $1048 and this configuration also gets a $200 dell gift card, so the effective price is $848.

    Thanks.

80 GB? That seems kinda small since because you got the graphics card...andyou're going to be gaming a little bit?

My current laptop has a 60Gb drive and it might be half full. I use the laptop mostly for web cruising, email, and running photoshop. If I need additional. space, I have a home server with over 1Tb of disk space. Not so much a gaming machine as a photo/video editing box that travels well (better than the 1520).

I believe if you up your warranty to the 4 years, it is an additional $80 but you also get $75 Dell Dollars. So for $5 you get an additional year warranty
