Any UK 1520/Vostro owners changed their WSXGA+ screens to LG?

I've got a SEC 3350 one. Not complaining about any grainy issues but the colours seem washed out and the viewing angles aren't as good as my 2 year old Inspiron 6000 laptop with the same resolution.

Are there any programs that can configure an LCD screen to sort this out

I know lots of swapping and changing has been happening in the US but any UK 1520/Vostro owners changed their WSXGA+ screens to LG? And is it easy to arrange?

Also, is there a time limit when dell will exchange the LCD?

Honestly, I think that it's all luck of the draw, and I don't think that Dell, even if they wanted to give you an LG, could arrange it.

Best case: the tech who can come out to replace your screen somehow has a stash of Vostro 1500 screens (rather than just one he gets mailed by the factory) and can get you your LG screen.

A better way would be to order, re-order, and re-order x 5 until you get an LG screen. When your order goes into production, you can look up the type of screen that you'll be getting. An LG screen, I think, at WSXGA+ is: 320-5545 on your invoice.

If it's not that, get on the phone and cancel the order before it ships.

Thanks for that. I have a 2 year consumer hardware support warranty with dell. Can I ask them to replace the screen in say a months time rather than within 21 days of receipt? Just too busy at the moment to sort this out.

I called them up today finally - I have an AUO screen and it isn't THAT bad at first but after comparing it to other screens including my fathers new laptop which is under half the price I paid for this, it got me a little furious so I called.

The Dell rep took my call very seriously and I asked him specifically for the LG model, and he's looking into it with his manager etc and he will get back to me. I had to refer him to a few threads here to proove it's a valid issue not just myself but fairly widespread worldwide (so it seems).

do let us know the verdict on that follow up.

if i didn't have the old laptop to compare it, i wouldn't know what's not good. now, comparing the 2, the difference is quite marked. i'll try to arrange a replacement in a few months after i'm less busy. just hope dell would still do it.

Does anyone know if they are using LG's for the LCD with the 1400xwhatever resolution. I don't know if I've got WXGA or what, but I know it's that resolution. The Dell rep I talked to said they're only using Samsungs on the screen I have so I decided not to have the screen replaced yet.
