Who wouldn't appreciate 16:10? I use a MacBook Pro 16" (16:10 for years) and my Dell (currently XPS 13 7390, 16:9). More vertical real estate is my preference.

Mine too. The new xps 13 2 in 1, 13 and upcoming 15, 15 2 in 1 and 17 are all 16:10. I hope this tradition moves throughout their lineup. It's a much better form factor.

I'm so glad to see a return of 16:10 displays, after their (in my opinion, pointless) disappearance in 2010. Let's hope this trend filters down to other notebooks too, and not just the extreme thin-and-lights.

I agree as well. XPS 17 looks inciting for the better CPU, but I think my Gram 17 still fits my needs better. I like the weight and resolution choice (1600p and 3lb) more than the XPS 17 (4.65lb with 1200p res and smaller battery or 5.5lb with 2400p res and larger battery).

I feel like 1600p is a great middle ground for eGPU gaming and the 15W CPU hasn't been holding me back in any AAA games yet (granted I don't play competitive FPS or 4X Civ type games where turn times might be important)

I am here playing around on my 7720 and realizing my next computer is going to be a modern 17"

Truly don't get the decision where the 16:10 -> 16:9 move made sense.

Props to Apple for sticking with 16:10 through it all and glad to see 16:10 make a comeback.

I presume that's the Macbook Air 11"? I can see that being an outlier, possibly due to sourcing of the panels. Either way, I would argue that's sticking to it given that all other macbooks have been 16:10 (I think) and this 11" has been discontinued a while ago.

Unless I’m mistaken, all the 13” Air’s were 16:10. Only the Air 11” was 16:9.

In business, the best way to control production costs is to source parts which suppliers made in large volume for another customer whom may had gradually transit to another model or specifications for their new generation products...
So... a sudden change of 16:9 screen across all models in a producer's product catalog is not possible. But gradually available to some model where there is more demand than most of their other catalogued products.

I wouldn't be surprise that such day will come if Dell will adopt 16:10 screen part onto one of their best seller, than spread to employ on other not so well selling models...

If it is, I don't see much difference in my dell and his air 13. Not worth worrying about anyways.

Wow. It's 16:10 alright but the resolution is pure crap compared to my cheap Dell.

    That day is here.
That's the old Air, the newer ones have better resolution.

That's what's in my house. Don't care about the new ones. New dell's have much better than mine too.

16:10 will remain very much an exclusive to the XPS line for now. The overwhelming majority of products from Dell will stay with 16:9.

I'm not so sure, usually xps trends filter down through the lineup.
