Any Flamingo Pink 1720/1721s shipped?

I see that a lot of people are getting their laptops shipped, but I haven't seen any pink 1720/1721s. There were a couple 1520s and 1420s, but none of the bigger ones. What's the deal? I have the popular 8/28 ship date, but since my order is still in the build stage I seriously doubt it'll be shipped on Tuesday.

 

I have not seen any 1420's ship yet either, just 1520's!! I'm in the same boat you are, I had to start school without my new lappy!!

I'm a 1720 ordered on 07/19... I haven't seen any going out either

 

Still in "build" phase with ESD of 9/5 here. I also haven't seen anyone with a pink lid that has shipped.

 

^^^ not a good sign I think... Some Yellows have been pushed back to October 1st!

My husband ordered me this computer on 7/30 for my birthday on Aug. 16. We are very upset that it is taking so long. I had the 8/28 ship date that changed to 9/5 then to 9/10 in one day. All this after a CSR saying on 8/27 that it would ship on 8/28. It's so nice how they lie to us. I knew it wouldn't ship on 8/28 because the automated number said that it was still in build. When my husband mentioned that to the CSR on 8/27 the CSR said it was because their system wasn't updated yet. What a bunch of liars. We've decided that if it doesn't ship on the 10th, then we're going to go for the Sony. They have a pink one, though not with a 17" screen. But, we'll see what happens.

Sorry to hear that. Yes, ours was also for my wife's birthday. Nothing is quite as irritating as handing your wife almost nothing on her birthday

It still angers me a bit to hear the CSR's say "well, if you had not gotten it in pink ... blah blah". If it wasn't in pink, I wouldn't have ordered it for my wife!!! I would have gotten a real laptop from a company that could deliver one!

We've also decided that this is our last delay, and I'm actively shopping for MacBooks and the Vaios. I haven't found a deal I like yet, but a bird in the hand is worth two in the build stage...

I haven't seen any pink 1720/21s go out. According to a CSR yesterday, mine was in testing, but the automated number still says Build. UUUUGGGGGHHHHH! I'm so frustrated. I don't know who to believe.

 

Wow. None at all. I really was expecting that someone had received one by now. I do believe that it is time to jump ship on the pink Dell laptops.

I know that Sony has a nice pink one. Are there any other good alternatives to the phantom Dell laptop?

So, my second post. I was really hoping Dell would come through this weekend and ship my laptop on its date of 9/4. I only called the order line once on Saturday and it said that it was still in the build stage. I thought ok, they have a lot to get done (testing, boxing) on a holiday weekend. Well this morning I get to work and check the status page, still says shipping of 9/4 and in the production phase. Not looking good. So I call the status line and get... I ordered an inspiron 1721 on July 15. The ship date was 8/6, 8/28, now 9/5. If the computer isn't shipped tomorrow, I will cancel since my daughter, who is a freshman in college, needs it to do her schoolwork. I tried to post on the Dell2Dell website and found my post, and possibly any new negative posts about Dell, did not appear.

 

It is official now (received this the morning of 9/5, the "magic" date):

Due to unforeseen circumstance, we have experienced another delay with your order number xxxxxxxxx. Our new anticipated ship date will be on or before 9/12/2007. Due to this additional delay, the Federal Trade Commission requires we receive your consent to continue with this order else we will be forced to cancel the order automatically.

First of all, unforeseen by whom? I think WE all knew it was coming.

Second: Buh-bye Dell! Can you say "cancel"?

I have officially canceled. Thanks everyone on here for the info and the support during the wait time.

Oh well, it would have been a nice laptop I think. Too bad they didn't really exist.

 

For those of you still waiting on pink (mine is canceled now), here is what the CSR told me when I canceled this morning (Sept 5th, 8:30 AM US Eastern). Apparently the delay reason du jour is "LCD cover on backorder".

Agent : "Thank you for contacting Dell Customer Service Chat. My name is Anshu. How may I help you?+"
bobrob: "I want to cancel my order"
Agent : "I will check that for you."
Agent : "Please confirm the reason why you want to cancel this order."
bobrob: "Five missed shipping dates and another delay message this morning."
Agent : "As a consumer myself I can certainly understand your position. I will also feel the same way if I had to face such situation."

*** Note, this is apparently a hotkey on the chat line, I've seen this line several times

Agent : "I apologize for any inconvenience this matter caused."
bobrob: "sure"
Agent : "Bob, the reason is that the LCD cover is on backorder."
bobrob: "don't care don't care don't care"
bobrob: "which, by the way, another csr told me yesterday there were no delays, all the parts were here, and it would ship on the 5th"
Agent : "Do I have your final authorization to cancel this order?"
bobrob: "yes, final authorization to cancel this order is given"

*** 50 Day Anniversary ***

 

Tomorrow will be my 40 day anniversary. Last week when my hubby talked to a CSR she guaranteed that it would be in my hands by September 11. They even gave us a free printer. (We'll see if we actually get it). But, according to the automated line it is still in the build stage. So, I'm not holding my breath about having it on Tuesday. I've been looking at the pink Sony VAIOs, but the screen is so much smaller and I'm kind of looking forward to having the number pad that only comes with the 17" computers. I'm a bookkeeper and I use the number pad alot. So, come Monday, we're going to see if it ships like they said it would, then we're going to make a decision about cancelling. I might have my hubby call CSR today to see what's going on. I'll keep you posted.

 

@ Jackie... I looked @ the Sony also... almost 3 inches smaller is a big difference. My current laptop is an Inspiron 9200 with a 17 inch screen, I definitely don't want to go backwards... I'm still in the build stage as well...

 

In the other flamingo pink thread they are getting their 1420s tested, boxed, and shipped... some have even got them and posted pics... they are beautiful! So maybe our 17s are next up to be painted?

 

For all those waiting (and waiting and waiting ) for their Flamingo Pink lappy, please take heart.

Whether the fact that I'm in Australia makes any difference, I ordered it on 21 August and I should be receiving it this Thursday (if not a day earlier *fingers crossed*).

I, too, had thoughts of cancelling my order when I saw a couple of days ago that the wait for pink on the Australian Dell website had expanded to 6-7 weeks, but I'm glad I decided to wait since the very next day it shipped, around two weeks earlier than expected going on the (2nd) EDD they told me, very much to my surprise!

I'm certainly not complaining

I certainly hope you all have a fast turnaround like I'm having.

MyzTery2u - Congratulations. On the Direct2Dell blog I actually saw a couple pink 1720/21s go out. But, I'm still in build. UUGGGGHHH. Even though a CSR last week told my husband that she guarantees that it will be in my hands on 9/11. Hopefully it will get out of build soon. It may not make my ESD, but I'm encouraged by some pink 1720/21s going out. I hope they don't delay it too much longer.

 

I'll just be happy to get it... its been such a long wait... 2 months ago from next wednesday... I hope the boxing stage doesn't take too long because I know I'm tired of waiting... I bet yours goes into testing and boxing this week Jackie

You should get yours soon Jackie. I started hearing of a few people getting their 1520s into boxing and almost immediately mine was out. I should get it Tuesday.

 

My ESD is today. Well, I check the order status and it can't find my order. Huh? What is going on? It says that I have no orders placed in the last 2 years. So I call the automated number and it still says build. So, I'm guessing that it's not going out today. Now, I have to call and find out why nothing is showing up on the order page.

 

My pink 1420 isn't on my order page because I ordered it via the EPP page and not Dell Home. So if you ordered it for school through EPP that could be why it's not there.

 

Finally got my order to show up and my new ESD is 9/17/07. When we talked to a CSR he just said its waiting for parts. Can he be any more vague? So, I guess I have at least another week to wait. I'm thinking of cancelling, but I'm afraid that I'll do it right before they get to mine and I'd have wasted this whole time waiting for nothing. So, I guess I'll hold on another week since I am starting to see the pink ones go out.

 

Has yours shipped yet? Just called on mine and it is in boxing! I can't believe it, especially since I emailed on 8/27 and canceled the order. Even have the confirmation email from them.. LOL. First time I've been glad to see Dell screw up.

 

lol nope mine hasn't shipped yet... i'm still in boxing... but i should be out of there by wednesday... i have a software date set for Friday so I can put all my wonderful extras on....

 

Well, I got my 2nd delay today - 10/15/07. My husband even talked to a CSR this morning that said 9/17/07. I don't even know why they have CSRs, they know absolutely nothing.

 

Yeah, so I went to the Dell website and built a computer with the same specs as mine and guess what the ESD was? 10/15/07. Huh? How is it that someone that ordered today would have the same ESD as me who ordered on July 30? I just can't figure this out.

 

... they wouldn't get it on 10/15... when I did my order my esd was 8/3... once it was processed it was pushed back .... and was 8/8 and from then it just kept on hopping back...

 

I know they wouldn't get it on that date, but it just shows that they're handing out bogus ESDs right from the start. If my new ESD is right, that means I'll have waited 77 days to receive it. I'm hoping that they pushed it back but will get it done sooner like I have seen for a few people. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I hope yours gets out of boxing soon and ships. (I'm so jealous )

 

... My Order went to "Shipped" Last night... it hasn't gone out yet though cause DHL has no knowledge of the shipment... but Dell is screwed because look what is on my order status page:
