Hi all,
As per the title, has anyone tried/had problems upgrading their Dell to an ES cpu?
I have 3 ES cpus, 2 i7-620m's (different batches) and an i5 which all work without fault in different brand notebooks- even when stressed for hours in all manner of ways.
When I place these in a Dell Vostro 3300 they show in the bios, windows boots fine, but anywhere between 30 seconds to 10 minutes into normal use the notebook completely freezes- no bluescreen, no buttons etc resulting in having to pull the power cord to shut down.
The Vostro came from the factory with an i7-640m and works perfectly with this cpu so I know the notebook has no other hardware faults. Bios version is the latest- A10.
One interesting thing I noticed is when I open HWMonitor, the temp reading jumps between displaying '-' then back to the normal temp- this does not happen on any other notebook these cpu's have been in.
Any ideas anyone!? Is it just a case the Dell bios is temperamental or isn't as comprehensive as other brands resulting in limited support maybe?
Thanks!

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Do these CPUs work in other laptops? It's probably just your particular machine, or the Vostro 3300 in general. I've got some older ES Merom/Penryn and they've worked in every Dell I've tried them in.

Yes these cpu's work perfectly in other laptops. It's annoying me I cant get them to work in the Dell!
Any Dell owners had problems upgrading to an ES cpu? Tried 3 tested good cpu's and all cause problems...
