    Hey,

I've had two Dell 6400 laptops recently both with a T7200 2.0ghz Core 2 Duo proccesor. Both machines had the high pitch noise that i've seen others complain about used RM utility and all that. It just made the noise a little more bearable. My father has a 6400 with a T2300 Centrino Dou proccesor which works silently. Just the standard reassuring hum you would expect.

Any consenus out there on which of the current crop of proccesors going around don't seem to have this problem recently decided that I just can't try to ignore the noise anymore its too much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes i have the same thing, it seems to stop when the processor is more active  then when it is less active, the noise starts... for example drag the verticle scroll bar up and down, it stop when you move it, and starts when you stop

I was gunna post about it on here, but i thought that it wasnt too major...

is there anyway it can be cured? (i doubt it)

In terms of how loud it is.

If you where sitting in a library or somewhere quiet, would people be looking at you wondering what the noise would be? Or is it a case of you having to put your ear to the machine?

I know that my Inspiron 9300 machine has a clicking hard drive which is annoying, and I was told a issue which was systematic across all the 9300 models.

My m90 makes a bit of a squeal. It seems to vary depending on what I'm doing and qhether the machine is plugged into AC or not. When I first started using it I found it a little annoying because I was expecting silence. Since then, however, I've barely noticed it at all.

use rmclock to fix it, it's no big deal maybe you lose a little bit of battery life.

Are we talking about noise coming through the microphone jack, or noise from the speakers/laptop? My cousin has a 1721 with no external noise (never listened to the headphones, though), and I've never noticed any microphone noise on my old 1200 (I'll have to check it out on my new 1720)

I don't have it on my D630 either.

If I press my ear against the bottom, I'll hear something that sounds like morse code but any further away, it's completely inaudible.

Now that you mentioned it, also put my ear next to the bottom/left... mine is morse-coding as well - can't figure out what it might be; never been good with morse-code but I'd venture it could be the disk scanning - anyway, it's too low to bother :)

Only thing I ever hear on my D630 is the fan sometimes. And that's really quiet too.

I have the SAME thing, but for me is irritating. I don't know what to do? send D630 T7100 to Dell service or use like that?

I had D600 and it was the quietest notebook ever.

My D420 does it if I turn the bluetooth card off.

Anyone know why it only does it then?
