I have Avast and Antivir installed on my E1405, Avast as my main AV program and Antivir as a scanner (since it's supposed to be the best out there.) My problem is that I can't figure out how to disable the AntiVir Guard on access scanner. I need to know because avast won't run it's own protection while antivir is on and the Guard is on by default whenn the system boots.

Hey Primehunter326,
Although I think what you've posted here is just a little bit off topic (DELL Notebooks forum ), I'll try to help you out on this.
So, you're wondering how to disable Avast antivir so it doesn't start every time you boot up your DELL notebook, right? Well, I suggest you to download this utility http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
It's name is Startup Control Panel by Mike Lin. It's been around since 2001 I think, but it's very useful when you want to control what applications load when your notebook boots.
Once you download it, just extract it using a Zip utility (e.g. WinZip or another one you like) and clik on the .exe file and the utility will install an icon on the Control Panel, from there you can just double-click on it and you will see some tabs that make reference to Registry Keys where the software that you install on your notebook usually put entries (e.g. : HK_LOCAL_MACHINE; HK_CURRENT_USER, etc...), just click on the tabs and locate the entry you are looking for and uncheck the box that is right beside that entry. Finally reboot your notebook and you'll see that the startup program will no longer start every time Windows starts.
Also, do this : click on START---> RUN and type SERVICES.MSC and set any service you see there that is related to Avast antivir to MANUAL instead of AUTOMATIC....
I hope all this should solve your problem.

I tried uninstalling the guard feature on Antivir but I don't think that helped. I tried going into the startup menu to disable it from booting but I couldn't find it or I didn't know what it was listed as.
