I just ordered a M1330 yesterday after browsing through computers for months, Dell are the masters of making people nervous, the day before I bought it was the last day on a $499 dollars off promotion for fully loaded XPS laptops and I was frustrated I wasn't able to buy it that day just to see the next day they started a promotion for $599 off, Im not complaing that I got a better deal, just irritated that I might have bought a computer with a worse deal because of the way they work. I'm really excited about getting my computer though because I bought Half-Life 2 a few years back and it runs horribly on my Emachines desktop and im really looking forward to playing it on my M1330.

I know last summer all you had to do to get free overnight shipping from dell is just tell them you need it quicker or that you might have to go somewhere else. I had some issues with the 1420 I ordered because I went back and added an accessory and they put me at the end of the line.. but they offered to expedite and I did not even ask for it.

HP is even worse where they offer overnight for more money but in reality everything gets overnighted with HP. I got Fed X overnight and did not even ask for it. My DV6500 was built in shanghai china and at my door in under a week. But I don't think dell is that generous. You might actually have to request expediting. But they used to give that away fairly easily last summer.

Dell is absolute crap with their estimated shipping dates. Their Overexaggeration of the ship dates cause a lot of confusion with the shipping dates because I was traveling around, and in turn caused me to lose out of the 21 day return policy for a new laptop.

Cut your estimated shipping date in half or so.

Man i ordered mine thursday and it says estimated date is the 25th!!! thats a long friggin time away. i can't wait, and knowing that it might come sooner might not and wondering about the screen is really building a lot of suspense :p i really hope i got the lg screen but i don't know why my estimated date is so far away? maybe it's because i wanted the 8600M GT video card.....o well hopefully ill get it a lot sooner. i know my desktop arrived within 1 week of ordering and they had to wait for my video card in it to.

I know the gpu i ordered said "may delat your xps M1530 ship date) but its usually not by that long. Dell CSR said it was a 3 day delay that most likely wouldnt even delay it they just say that in case its delayed so their asses are covered. We do that where i work

Ex, "we should receive it in approximately 3-10 days, providing it is in stock with the supplier"

im pretty sure we cover our asses more than anyone! :p haha and usually there is no need. i wont be surprised if it arrives by the 15th-18th

Thanks...How helpful is it really to reformat? I dont want to risk screwing anything up just to make my computer a little faster or have a little more space especially with a 200 gb hdd and 4 gb of ram will i be fine or should I reformat anyway?

10 pics I took of my Crimson Red M1330 vs my old Inspiron 6000 :)

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=226802

    Are you Stateside Chris?

Did it say anywhere in your build "May cause delays?". Just go to your order status page and if it's been shipped but you don't have a tracking #, just call up Dell CSR and ask for the Carrier and Tracking #. Sometimes their system doesn't update like it should. When I called up to figure out the tracking # for my M1330 the CSR said it had been delivered that afternoon... :)

As for your reformat question, I don't mean to sound assumptious but you don't sound that computer geeky and might have quite a hard time doing the reformat, it's not hard but just takes time and can be frustrating if you don't know what you're doing. Follow the sticky up at the top by Les and you should be good to go. Plan on ~2-4+ hours if this is your first OS reinstall. Oh and from what I learned this weekend.. DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE DISK DRIVERS!!! (AHCI)

Well I dont think that I had anything that said May cause delay..but I think a week before I bought it when i put the same configuration in it said that for a couple things ... Its only been 2 days so ill just wait and see if it ships soon worst case scenario the Estimated date is just a week away so Even with that Its tolerable..yeah I live in wisconsin...I would say Im on the higher side of computer knowledge .. Not like hacker knows everything uses Linux but thinks its too easy..but Im on the computer 10-18 hours a day on average I know how to reformat ... I just dont really see how much you really save by doing that I mean I will pry just try it out for a while and see if its slow or anything that bothers me ... with 4 gb of ram and 200 gb hdd I dont see anything slowing me down or filling up ever but Im going to do some of the Tweaks and Tips anyway
