    Here's the deal.

If any part of your order is backordered, your order simply waits for all the parts to become availible. Dell does not set aside parts for your order until the backordered parts come in because this would cause them to build up inventory and thereby decrease their profits.

So basicly something was on backorder before but when it came in the LCD case was backordered and in the end your order is still not being built.

This is the main reason why orders such as mine (7/1) took forever to be built while those who ordered mid-july got theirs sooner.

I just recieved a voice message from a Dell rep (wish I could have talked to them).

Anyway she stated that my order is STILL backordered and the reason being is the color I choose. She said that my order is expedited and they are working hard to ship it by the ESD.

I was hoping this week would be better. I'm about 1 week away from cancelling for an ASUS G1S. The only thing holding me back is the additional cost of the ASUS and the fact that it doesn't have the same warranty as the Dell.

working "hard" to ship it...yeah right! they can't do anything. and nobody will actually expedite or hold parts for us. CS can be such a sham.

dell rep told me the same thing which sucks.

anyways I just configured a vostro 1500 and it came out to be cheaper than my 1520. I'm actually tempted to go with the vostro, but I'm not quite sure if all black is better than the ruby red.

Ok I think I'll hold off calling that dumb operator again until Thursday because if I hear it say it's in BUILD again I will somehow jump in the phone and bash that machine to pieces. Look what Dell has done...

Each week that goes by I get more and more frustrated.

BTW, I only know what my new shipping date is because I got a message on my cell phone. No e-mail, and the website still says its not shipped and that its supposed to ship today. If they knew this weeks ago, why couldn't they tell me. That's what makes me so mad. Wait until the very last second.

If its still in the build stage and its supposed to ship tomorrow.. its going to get delayed. Im 100% sure on that and expect a new ship date of at least 8/28.

I think I'm going to give dell 2 more days. If my status doesn't change then I'm getting the ASUS G1S. It's the same spec as my ordered dell, and even better a local store has it on sale for $1749, cheaper than anywhere I can find online!

I really am not so sure about color delays. My girlfirend ordered a ruby red 1520 about a week and a half ago (on my recommendation....oh the irony), and she got her lappy in 5 days. All the delays are probably from a mixture of elements, with certain builds missing certain parts, and thus, sitting and waiting. I personally can't get a word out of my dell rep as to whats delaying my build.

My laptop shipped today from the factory so i'm eagerly awaiting it. However i'm not so happy about the price I paid for the lappy, because a few days later discounts made it cheaper.
