A new week has began my friends, as this week begins, shipments and deliverys start rolling out

Some people will receive a laptop and once again, enjoy life in this High Tech world

Others will buy a notebook from dell and dream about the marvelous stuff it can, and will do.

But others will be sadden and angry, wanting to destroy an evil corporation that just won't give them their god damn laptop.

When you go to bed, pray to the dell gods that they will expiate your order and bring haste to your order.

When you wake up, think happy thoughts and call the lovely lady of 1-800-433-9014 to ask her on how your order is going. Some will bless her in saying that your order is finally out of build stage. Others will murder the automated system in learning their order is still %&#*ing building.

Many of us will talk to people from India that we can't understand. Why dell, why hire people that we can't understand? God bless america and our flipping customer service.

After this whole thing of the fun that is coming up this week. Good luck with all your orders, and don't try to blow up dell; I want my laptop.....

I'm from India, and even I can't understand what the CSRs from Dell India say. Probably they go through some kind of "American accent" training which ruins their way of speaking English permanently.

Welcome to Dell's Automated Status Order System. Your call may be recorded. With this system you can use your voice rather than pressing buttons on the phone. Please say or enter your 9 digit order number or your 13 digit Dell purchase ID. You can also say, "I dont have it."

    Thanks. One moment please.

Alright, I have some important information for you to write down. If you need to hear it again, just say "repeat it". Here we go. This order is in production and is currently in the build stage. To find out more about this stage, just say learn more. To skip this information, say continue.

That's all the order information available at this time. If you'd like to hear this order information again, just say repeat it.

Would you like to check another order?
Would you like to check the status of another order? Please say yes or no.

^^^ Hmm, that's odd. Mine differs from yours a little bit during one part:

"Alright all ready, I have nothing for you to write down because nothing has changed. If you need to hear it again for the eighteenth time today, just call back. Here we go: This order is still in production since your last call fifteen minutes ago and is still in the build stage. To find out more about this stage, just say 'learn more'. But doing so will not help you get it any faster. To skip this information, say 'continue'.

That's all I got for your sorry ?!@#! at this time. If you'd like to hear this order information again, just say 'repeat it'; otherwise, shove it up your ?!@#$#%!. If you'd like to make a call, please hang up and try your call again."

Er, I guess that last sentence is actually said by another lady after the first one disconnects me. Why does she say something different to me than to pragun, I don't get it...

Anyone out there ordering the espresson brown 1520? I originally ordered mine on July 12th. It will have the 3 year extended warranty with lojack. The computer got delayed when the lojack got delayed (to August 9) so I took that opportunity to add another component to my build -- the 8600 GM card. That, in turn, pushed my laptop ship date to 8/9 but the lojack (which you get a separate order number for) to 8/23. Any thoughts or experiences on this?

I, too, keep calling the number to check my status and mine has been in the build stage fro over a week now. The re-order/change in order was done on July 26. AND, does anyone know if they totally rebuild your computer if you change your order?

    thanks!

So dell is delaying shipping because they cant find any blank CDs to make a copy of lojack?

Why am I picturing them running around, saying "Didnt Bob have some?" "No, I think Susan had some on her desk" "Cant we just run down to officemax?" "What time do they close?"

So lojack can be installed by the customer, and ultimately, the CD shipped separately? Is that how it works?

BECAUSE, if it is not something installed during build and my computer is being delayed for THAT reason, I am going to be angry!!! I am, actually, already a bit angry. I have NEVER had to wait this long for a computer -- the three I ordered previously came on or, in most cases, before time.

Today was supposed to be the day. The day when light vnaquished evil. The day when pigs would fly and fairies would eat hot dogs with elephants. But It was not to be. A darkness came accorss the land, And the estimated ship date of august 6th was slaughtered without thought or care, it's remains still visible on the dell support site and exhoed by the oh so frinedly automated order stauts lady, by the dictorial dell rep name....Poojang. All hope was lost like a penny in the vastness of the indian ocean. Anger filled that lands of laptop anticipation and happiness: Excitement was no more. But a ray of light still shines in a distant tunnel, tucked beneath a dell factory in malaysia. The 16th! Will it bring hope anew to a shattered world? Only the sands of time know the fate of a 1520 inspiron with a midnight blue cover, trying desperately, to find the arms of a heart broken owner who needs it for college. May the light find you as well, and may we all not lose sight of the beam of light form malaysia.

Look guys, about an hour ago I spoke to a CSR (an American ty god.) and we discussed my laptop and the lojack.

    1. My laptop has an ESD of 8/14/2007.

    2. He was the very first CSR to actually tell me what the hold up is on the laptop since others have gotten their laptops already and ordered a few days before I did.

The reason why my laptop in particular is held up is because Dell ran out of the pre-cut LCD glass that they install in their laptops. That is the only thing that is holding up my laptop. Apparently they ran out of them the beginning of last week, and expect them within to 5-12 days. He gave me some reassurance that since they ran out of them the beginning of last week, they should come in 5-7 days roughly. As soon as they get it, it'll be installed and my laptop will be shipped the next day.

Regardless of this delay, my laptop should meet the ESD they gave me. If not, it'll ship a few days after, but shouldnt be anymore than that.

This is probably affecting most of you who ordered around my date and havent gotten their laptops yet.

    The thing with the lojack:

They also have a mass shortage of Lojack to ship out. However, lojack is a seperate entity on its own to the laptop, and will ship out after the laptop ships because of the high demand.

Lojack WILL NOT delay your laptop.

As soon as parts come in, the laptops will ship. If you just recently ordered, you're in the back of queue, obviously and will most likely run into such a snag.

This is all provided you ordered a color that is NOT delayed.

IMHO CSR stationed in India is crap. They didnt ONCE tell me that there is a short delay on my laptop because of the LCD shortage, but reassured me that all the parts are in and it will ship ASAP or even before the ESD. I think people have cancelled a lot due to the indian CSRs and they are probably afraid to cough up the truth to recieve another cancellation order. I for one am not one of those people and would be glad if I heard some truth once in a while because I want nothing other than this laptop.

yea most people won't cancel their orders if they are given the truth about the delay. But being lied to and having your order delayed is another thing which will easily frustrate people and make them cancel. So what companies are doing these days is stupid. Saving some money by outsourcing their customer service but in the end they might be losing money. And the best example is dell CSRs lol.

I dont doubt at all what the rep told you. I would like to add though that I have heard several very detailed but conflicting reasons.

Like you, Ive heard that the LCD glass/panel has been the delay.

Ive also heard from another rep that it was the combination of the colored lids with webcam, and I've also heared that it was the combination of the colored lids with the WSXGA, and I've also heard that there was a backlog of the T7300 processor - each rep gave me a detailed explanation like you, only they all said that the other stuff I heard was innaccurate and based on old info - even when there was only 10 minutes between reps at times.

Thats good to hear. I thought it would have been ridiculous for them to delay shipping because of that.

Im hoping that all my complaining wont actually make them take longer to ship, as in "This one is ready, but send it to Fred, so he can make sure all of the whiny customer's complaints are addressed, and maybe Fred can get it out next week after he's done verifying"

    If Blue, then delay
    If Blue+Webcam, delay more
    If Blue+Webcam+WSXGA, delay more
    If Blue+Webcam+WSXGA+T7300, delay more
    If Blue+Webcam+WSXGA+T7300+Bluetooth, delay more
    If Blue+Webcam+WSXGA+T7300+Bluetooth+whiny customer, delay more

Or, if you are calling every five minutes like me, make a phonebook entry with 8004339014PPPPxxxxxxxxx (where x's represent digits in your order number, and P stands for 'PAUSE': keep '*' pressed until 'P' appears) and just wait for 20 seconds after pressing talk to hear the status.... :D

Well they shouldn't be paying them minimum wage or whatever it is. If you were to pay them more then maybe the customer service reps would be better qualified and same with the technical support. All they do right now is just read of the screen but if they actually got a good amount of training then it would be worth it to pay them more.
